Chapter 10

Dawn came to the valley of the fallen star, Cosmo Canyon. Red XIII was doing its usual thing. Checking up the energy sensor, to detect any unusual happenings. He scrutinized with his single eye, as he pressed the buttons with his red furred paw. Then, suddenly, a blinking blip appeared on the monitor. Red XIII's eye grew. He placed his left paw onto the monitor and wondered. "Strange... a field with high energy being given out.... can't by Mako energy... This machine doesn't detect Mako at all!" Suddenly, the blip grew larger and began to blink faster.

Red XIII knew something was very wrong.

"The energy source is getting nearer and nearer!! What is that?" He muttered, as he pressed buttons and lifted up levers on the huge machine. Nevertheless, the blip blinked more rapidly with every second!! "I... i don't understand this!! Could it be..." Red XIII gasped. Suddenly, he heard movement behind him. With a growl, he swung himself backwards at the unexpected stranger. To his surprise, it was Cloud!!

"Cloud, you gave me a scare!!" Red XIII's heaved a sigh of relief. "I thought you were..."

"Sephiroth?" Cloud folded his arms and replied smoothly. Red XIII nodded his head. "It seems that the energy level of that beast is incredibly high. We cannot...." Red XIII paused when he saw Cloud chuckling evilly. Suddenly, Red XIII caught a glimmer in his Mako eyes. A very different glimmer from the his usual self. The wise beast could sense.... hate and prevailed evilness. A shiver ran down into his spine. Suddenly, Red XIII understood why was there a sudden blip, and why was it blinking rapidly than any other.

Red XIII knew.

"You... you are Sephiroth...." Red XIII exclaimed with its voice trembling. Cloud laughed, as his evil laughter filled the whole lab. "Then... why did you look like Cloud...? Cloud... WHERE IS CLOUD?" Red XIII demanded, as he arched his body, ready to pounce onto him. Sephiroth (dear readers, please be reminded that now Sephie is now looked like Cloud! So dat Cloud named previously is Sephie) grinned barring his fangs, as he grabbed Red XIII by his mane. "Oh don't you worry, Red..." He laughed as he slashed the red beast with Cloud's mighty sword.

Blood spurted out like rays of ribbons from Red XIII's chest. He howled in pain as he fell onto the ground. Sephiroth went forward to him and bent down, face to face.

"He's in a safe place..." he whispered in a mocking manner. Sephiroth threw his head back and laughed, as he marched towards the door. All that was heard was Red XIII's breathless panting, and the spilling of blood. The red beast stammered, "Cloud... where are you...?" Then, he sank deeper onto the floor, and no more panting was heard.

Red XIII moved no more.
