Before you read this, I just want you tell you that the beginning is kind of slow, and boring...but after the 6th paragraph, it get interesting. Thanks, and enjoy! (All characters are from SquareSoft's FFIII, and I don't own them, so don't sue me)
Locke: The Story By: falconmoogle@home.com
There he was...only a little child. His name was Locke.
He lived in the little town called Kohlingen. He loved to read about the travels and explorations of the past people. He was an adventurous little boy. He always used to get into all sorts of trouble. This was because he was never disiplined. His father was the town's drunk, and his mother went insane trying to help his father. So, he spent most of his time alone.
When he was nine, he was reading a book about some treasures in the world. He thought to himself "Damn! All that treasure, and I'm stuck in this piece of crap shack! I'm going out for adventure!" Well, someone nearby heard him, and asked him why he wanted to leave. He told them that he wanted adventure in his life. The man told him that adventure isn't what it seems. "Oh, sure, you can go exploring in a cave and by a stroke of luck, get ONE LITTLE COIN that was around before Caeser's time, and become the richest man in the world....not having to work another day in your life...having everything you ever dreamed of....hmmmm....excuse me....I'm going...out.." That didn't pursuade Locke not to go.
But one day, he met a girl named Rachael, who had just moved into Kohlingen. She had the same interests as him. But her father wasn't a drunk...and her mother wasn't insane. So, she had rules and boundaries. She convinced him not to go hunting for treasures until he got older, because he was still just a kid.
Locke and Rachael did many things together, including playing the games 'Final Fantasy', and 'Chrono Trigger'. They also looked for treasures in their own town; digging up little toys from the ground.
Locke was now 14, and Rachael was as well. They were still looking for treasures, but they really never found anything. One day they each saved up their own money to get a Metal Detector. It was very expensive, but combining their money, they could afford it. One day, they were digging near a graveyard, not even realizing it. All of a sudden, the detector began to ding like crazy.
"C'mon, Locke! Dig! Dig!!" said Rachael.
"I'm digging as hard as I can...isn't it conveinent that I have the shovel, and you don't???" said Locke.
"What's that supposed to---OH MY GOD! YOU HIT SOMETHING!! DIG! DIG!!" she yelled.
"I got it! It's kind of hard!" They continued to dig with their hands now, hoping they could actually feel what it was.
"It looks like a piece of jewelry," said Locke. "I'm not sure what it---"
"Hey! Hey! What in the three statues' names do you kids think you're doing???" said a nearby man.
"Well, Gramps," said Locke, "we're looking for treausre!"
"Yeah, Geezer! What does it look like??" added Rachael.
"Well, if I'm not mistaking, it looks like you're digging up a body from this cemetary!" the old man replied.
"What are you talking about, Old Ma----OH, #$&@~!" said Locke.
"What happened?" said the man and Rachael.
"He showed them the ring he found...only it was on a finger as well.
"See?? See??? Who was right?!?!?" said the old man.
Locke immidiately dropped the shovel, and ran towards his house like hell. Rachael followed with him. He then started to pack his things into a little bag.
Rachael said "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"I'm packing up my stuff and leaving!" replied Locke.
"Why? Just because you saw a finger attached to that shovel? That doesn't mean you have to run off!" Rachael countered.
"I'm not running off! That was the best experience of my life! I'm going off to the nearby cave and searching there!"
"Why? There's probebly nothing there!" said Rachael.
"Au, Contrier! Look at this map!" said Locke, as he said as he showed her a textbook with a map in it. "This is the exact same cave near us! And it says that there was some kind of treasure in it!"
"Oh, don't believe that, Locke! That book is about as old as that geezer who was telling us to stop digging in the grave yard! It's, like, a hundred kabillion years old!" said Rachael.
"I'm not going to LIVE in that cave...just explore all day! I'll come back every night to eat and sleep and play my video games!"
"...AND??" said Rachael.
"...And...uhh..to see you, of course!" said Locke.
"Ok. Leave me all alone all day, with nothing to do for weeks...I understand."
"I knew you'd see it my way! Well, if you want, you can spend the night here..I'm going off tomorrow," said Locke.
That night Rachael stayed over Locke's. She tried all night to convince him not to go. But he was just too stubborn to listen to reason. She did, however, convince him to not go on the weekends and Friday. That was their video game day.
The next day, Locke went exploring in the cave with his map in hand. Since the textbook's map had information on the cave, he was careful not to step in the wrong place, due to old booby traps set up by the psychos who actually lived there.
Well, like that man he met when he was nine said, he had a stroke of luck, and on the fourth day, he saw a treasure box across a little bridge.
"YES!! I FOUND IT!!" said Locke. He ran out of the cave, leaving little powder behind him so he could retrace his steps.
He ran into Kohlengin, towards Rachael's house. Rachael was having a little conversation with her dad.
"He's a lunatic! I don't want you spending any more time with that theif!" said her father.
"He's not a lunatic!" Rachael said. "And if you don't trust me to make a good decision of who I go out with, you're not a very good---"
The whole room was interrupted by a knock. When Rachael's mother opened the door, she saw Locke standing right there. Fortunately, he didn't hear one word they said.
"Oh, hello, LOCKE!" said the mother, trying to warn the father to shut up.
"LOCKE!! I'LL KILL HIM!" said the father.
"Ummm...is this a bad time? asked Locke, looking at the father with his veins popping out in anger.
"No....Locke," said the father. "We were just discussing how my daughter won't see you ever again, because we don't trust a theif like you."
"What? Theif? Not see again? Dont trust?" said Locke. "Hmmm....I think this is a bad time to ask your daughter to marry me."
"WHAT? ARE YOU STUPID, BOY???"
"Yes! I'll marry you!" said Rachael.
"You what?" said the father.
"I'm going to marry him, weather you like it or not!" said Rachael.
"Oh! Ok! Fine! Then, you can go live with Locke!" as he grabbed her stuff, and threw it and her out of the house.
"What the hell was that?" said her mother.
"I'm not going to have my daughter marry that thief who has NO money, and NO boundaries!" said the father.
"But she's your daughter! How can you throw her out of the house?" said the mother.
"Well, I packed her stuff in little bags, and picked it up---"
"I want you to go back outside, admit what a jackass you're being, and bring her AND Locke inside!"
"...Ok," said the father. But when He opened the door, no one was there. Locke had heard what Rachael's father said about no money, and had to show Rachael what he found in the cave.
"That's the cave!" said Locke as he pointed to it. "That's where I found the treasure box!"
"Do you know what's in it?" said Rachael.
"Not exactly," said Locke, "but in the book I have, it says that some old coins and ancient armor...like Atma Armor lies in that."
"You mean the legendary Atma?" said Rachael.
"Yup!" said Locke. Let's go in!
Locke and Rachael went inside the cave, and took careful steps. When they came towards the bridge, they each looked at the treasure box across it.
"Come on, Rachael! Just a little more!" he said as he crossed the bridge. They each heard something rumble when he was crossing it.
"Locke! Watch out!" said Rachael as she pushed him off the bridge just before he fell through. But instead of him falling through, she did. She fell all the way to the bottom of the cave.
"Rachael!!!" said Locke as he jumped off the cliff to her side.
When he landed next to her, he saw that she was unconscious. He picked her up, and made sure she was alive. "Oh, Sheeet! I'm gonna hear it when I get back," said Locke.
When Locke got back and showed Rachael to the parents, the father took her into his arms. "What the hell did you do to her, Thief?"
"I was showing her a treasure and the bridge was about to collapse under me, and she pushed me---"
"I KNEW YOU DID IT!" said the father. "I'll NEVER FORGIVE YOU!"
At that time, Rachael woke up. "Rachael! Are you all right?" her father said.
"...Who are you guys?" said the puzzled Rachael.
"WHAT?" the parents and Locke said at the same time.
"Where am I?...who are you guys?....Urgahhh..I can't remember a thing..."
"That DOES IT!" said the father. "Get out of this house! If I never see you again, it will be too soon! She lost her memory because of you!"
"But....but...She said yes! We were going to---"
At this point, Rachael came out of her house. "I don't know who you are, but you seem to be pissing off my father...please get away from here."
Locke couldn't believe what he just heard. "I can't believe what I just heard..." he said.
"I can!" the father said. "She just said go! Now GO!"
As Locke moved away from the house, he went back to his and sat on his bed and wondered why all the bad stuff happened to him. "Well, I'm gonna find something that can cure her!" said Locke, as he packed all his stuff and went off into the world.
* * *
When he returned to Kohlingen, a year later, he went straight to Rachael's house. He knocked on the door, but heard no answer. He went to his house, and saw that it was trashed. His next door neighbor's house was completly burned down. "What the hell happened" he thought to himself.
When he went back into his house, he noticed that all of the people were next door to him, in the "Crazy Man"'s house. He went over there, and found Rachael on the ground. A little gun shot wound in her chest.
"What the hell is this?" said Locke.
"Locke? Is that you??" said the old man he saw a year earlier who told him and Rachael about the graveyard.
"Yeah, it's me...Hey! It's the Old Man! What's with the houses, and more importantly, what the hell is wrong with Rachael.
"Well...I hate to be the one to break it to you, but just before you came, Locke, but just after her memeory returned to her, we were attacked. She died in an accident during the attack...and so did her parents...they're buried in the back of town."
"WHAT?" said Locke.
"...The last thing she muttered...was your name," said the old man.
"I can't &*%^$%$ believe this! Why is everyone crowded around this Crazy Guy's house?" Locke asked.
At that point, the Crazy Man came out of his house. "Ahhh, Rachael....I knew her well...and who is this around her?"
"I'm Locke...I was going to marry her before she lost her memory..."
"Ahhh...then follow me into my house," the man said.
"Ok..." said Locke, as he picked up Rachael and went into his house.
Locke and the old man each went downstairs. There, he placed Rachael on a bed. "What are we doing here, Old Man?" said Locke.
"I have some herbs that can restore her...and put her in what we call 'Suspended Animation.'" said the man.
"What's that?" said Locke?
"Well, Rachael will be alive...but won't be able to do anything."
"Kind of like a 'Deep Sleep'?" questioned Locke.
"Exactly!" said the man. Would you like me to use them on her?
"...She'll still be alive..right?" questioned Locke.
"Correct..she won't talk, or do anything, but the love of your life will sleep like she is forever!"
"..Ok..do it." said Locke.
"Ok!" said the man, as he used the herbs on her. "She'll sleep like this forever! Kwa, ha, ha! I'll just leave you two alone!"
Locke approached the sleeping Rachael. "I can't believe what just happened...it seems like we were digging up that grave just yesterday...but I WILL avenge you...I swear it!" he said, as he walked out of the room, looking at her one last time.
"Hey! Old Man! Who killed Rachael?" said Locke.
"Why, the Imperal Army, of course! It's lead by the Emperor and that maniac, Kefka!" the man replied.
"I'm going to go against it...is there anyone with me?" yelled Locke.
"Well...there is already a group called the Returners that goes against them. We'd go, but we'd get attacked again if the empire found out that the whole town went against them," said the man.
"Well, I'm going to join the Returners! Where is it?" Locke asked.
"It's in a small cave on the other side of this continent," the man replied.
"Well, I'm going there! Thanks a lot, Old Man! I'll see you again....maybe," said Locke.
And that was that. Locke went to the other side of the continent, and went to the Returner's hideout, led by a man named Banon. The odd thing was that the King of Figaro, Edgar, was also involved in the Returners. They worked together to go against the evil empire, ran by Emperor Gestahl. I'm not about to ruin the entire game for you..but this was the story of Locke's past that is not mentioned in the game. The reason I picked Locke was because he had a real bad past life, and no one really cares about Locke. Everyone likes Sabin, or Edgar, or Cyan, but not Locke...well, the people I know, anyway. So, Locke, being my favorite character, I decided to make a historic story about him. If you really do want to know what happened to him after this (if you didn't play Final Fantasy III) then, feel free to E-MAIL me and I'll tell you what happened. Comments and Criticism are taken from any people who want to yell at me for my utter stupidity, or my geniousness. If you want to E-MAIL me, just send me E-MAIL at any one of these address:
