Valujet was an airline I’m sure everyone has heard of. For those who don’t, it was an Atlanta based carrier flying DC9-30s on a hub and spoke network. It zoomed up fast, but then had a crash. The public discovered it had reduced maintenance to lower fares and the FAA had covered up after them. Valujet dropped until it bonded with Airtran, a local carrier in Orlando, which operated 737-200s. The airline, through amazing management, has climbed back and is now a very safe value airline, with prices 1/3 of major carriers. |
