Scandinavian Airlines System

SAS is a combination of 4 airlines in Scandinavia, DNL, a Norweigan airline that started in the late 20s, ABA of Sweden, founded in 1924 and flew DC-3s through the warzones in WWII, SILA of Sweden, which flew impounded USAAF B-17 bombers configured to carry 17 passengers, and DDC, an airline of Denmark. In 1950, the 4 joined into the Scandinavian Airlines System. It became a large major airline. In 1954, they offered the first trans-polar service and they brought the Sud Aviation Caravelle to Scandinavia. They allied with Swissair and helped found THAI International.
