US Airways
USAir is an airline dating back to the 30s when Allegheny Airlines was formed. It remained primarily a east coast airline. It merged several times, with Piedmont in the 80s and Pacific Southwest in 1989. It acquired 767s, BAe146s, 737s, 727s, and many others from these mergers. In 1979 it changed its name to US Air. It suffered several hull losses in the 1990s and had a very poor on-time record and still does. It lost a DC-9 just several years ago. Such a record was not lost on the traveling public and it almost went under. Then a new president came in. He changed the name to US Airways and started to build a new reputation. However, it still has a VERYVERYVERYVERY bad on-time record. Recently, FAA officials discovered security loopholes when it was able to smuggle weapons on board a US Airways flight and several other airlines. US Airways sucks because it isn't buying American planes, but placing huge orders for Airbus planes. They should cancel those orders and go back to American manufacturers.
