For the Glory of the Empire II
Revised Klingon Empok Nor Battle Deck

I have updated my favorite Klingon deck to include cards from BoG and RoA. As I predicted new cards have served to strengthen this deck especially with all the K’Vorts with matching commanders now. Blaze of Glory alone increased the number of K’Vorts available with matching commanders by four. The Battle Bridge does give rise to some problems but do not seriously affect effectiveness. After all you cannot wage war without a few casualties. Empok Nor and the ability of Klingons to Process Ore and download ships with matching commanders there are still crucial to this deck. As with the original version make sure that you can seed Empok Nor at one of your missions, either Mining Survey or a universal planet.

This deck continues to be a force to be reckoned with. With a total of seven K’Vort class ships with matching commanders the game reflects why the K’Vort is the backbone of the Klingon Fleet. With powerful easy to staff ships it would be my guess that the Klingon affiliation will rule space for quite some time. You just cannot beat the speed and power this Klingon deck presents. So without further comments here is the updated version of For the Glory of the Empire.

Seed Deck:

Missions:

Distress Mission
Gault
Khitomer Research
Minging Survey - (For seeding Empok Nor)
Wormhole Negotiations - (Borg are less of a mission stealing treat)
Reported Activity

I like the strong Honor approach and with Access Denied available I have gone with the Klingons best space mission. Other focused missions work well depending on your preferance.

Dilemma Combos

The Sheliak + Seismic Quake + Founder Secret

The Sheliak + New Essentialists + Founder Secret

Hazardous Duty + Borg Ship + Maglock

Dangerous Liasons + Borg Ship + Scientific Method

The Sheliak + Berserk Changeling + Shaka, When the Walls Fell

Dead End + Shaka, When the Walls Fell

Balancing Act - (This dilemma should be used to punish PNZ decks and to ensure that one mission has four dilemmas for Ajur & Boratas)

Strategy:

The dilemmas are designed to delay your opponent. When you are seeking out your oppoent for destruction he won't have much time get by them. When an opponent manages to get going through dilemmas you are probably in trouble. Although if you haven't destroyed his ability to report personnel you are probably in trouble anyway.

Mission phase seeding is important in this deck. Seed Empok Nor as soon as possible. You want the advantage of having close to your missions so that you can get it quick. The Search for Weapons approach is really great for this. Remember to exchange Fair Play for HQ: Defense Measures though to protect those easy to solve missions.

The first 6 turns are the most critical to play. Follow the below turns as closly as possible to maximize the effect. If you hit Friendly Fire at Empok Nor you will just have to ride it out. Protect your Computer Skill. Don't forget that Examine Singularity downloads a card each turn. Grab a card each turn and use it to fuel your Ore Processing.

Turn 1: Download Mercenary Vessel OR play the I.K.C. Heg'hta, the I.K.C. Buruk OR the I.K.C. Pagh, Q-Tent for Ready Room Door if you did not draw one. Play Ready Room Door for the ships matching commander as appropriate, Baran, Kurn, Kavok or Kargan. All four have Computer Skill. Load ship and fly to Empok Nor. Commandeer Empok Nor. Red Shirt Vekma if any Dilemmas are there. Don't forget to download weapons and extra site from your Q's Tent.

Turn 2: Download Process Ore to Ore Processing Unit. Move Goroth to Ore Processing Unit.

Turn 3: Process Ore, Download I.K.C. Rotarran to Docking Ports, play Ready Room Door to download Martok to the I.K.C. Rotarran. Note: Process Ore will return the Ready Room Door to your hand at the beginning of each turn, so use it.

Turn 4: Process Ore, Download I.K.C. Koraga to Docking Ports, play Ready Room Door to download Worf Son of Mogh to the Koraga.

Turn 5: Process Ore, Download I.K.C. Heg'hta, I.K.C. Buruk or I.K.C. Pagh to Docking Ports, play Ready Room Door to download Kurn, Kavok or Kargan to his ship, lauch fleet towards opponents facility.

Turn 6: Process Ore, Play a personnel card, download Captain's Log with Ready Room Door and protect it with the ready room door, attack facility.

Adjust your play according to your opponent's strategy. If your opponent plays Red Alert!, download Deactivation with Examine Singularity. If you are close to a Neutral Outpost launch fleet on turn 4. A smart player adjusts to his opponents strategies to head him off.

The Supreme Commander of the Klingon Defense Force has determined that this deck can help reduce stress after a hard week at work or in classes.
