For the Glory of the Empire
Klingon Empok Nor Battle Deck

This is my favorite Klingon deck. Not only is it my favorite but it has never finished in less than fourth place. It is built around Empok Nor and the ability of Klingons to Process Ore and download ships with matching commanders at an alarming rate. With the release of Blaze of Glory this deck will only get better. Make sure that you can seed Empok Nor at one of your missions, either Mining Survey or a univerasal planet.

This deck was my first Klingon deck. With the advent of The Dominion I think the Klingons came into their own as a playable and competative affiliation. The first opponent I faced with this beauty gave me a pricely expression. His face continually sank starting on turn three as I proceeded to download a ship and matching commander each turn and then topped it off on turn 6 with Captain's Log. Needless to say his Federation battle deck died without firing a shot. This deck has been defeated twice by Borg, once by a Cardassian deck, once by another Klingon and once in non-tournament play by a Dominon deck. Honorable mention goes to the Bajoran Battle deck that ended in a tie but only because of Intermix Ratio. Every affiliation has fallen to this deck at one time or another and has a total of 17 wins in tournament play. Tournament record is 17-4-1.

Seed Deck:

Missions:

Distress Mission
Gault
Khitomer Research
Minging Survey - (For seeding Empok Nor)
Paxan Wormhole - (Anti Borg Space Mission)
Reported Activity

Any Klingon focus missions will work. I have used Bio-Medical and Search for Weapons space-line with equal success. My favorite is the Honor approach. After all let Klingons be Klingons.

Strategy:

The dilemmas are designed to be anti-SECURITY. I found that it works well especially in a battle deck. It is hard for an opponent to keep SECURITY on the table when you are destroying his ships. Affiliations to watch out for have tons of SECURITY are Cardassian and Dominion. When an opponent manages to get going through dilemmas you are probably are in trouble. Although if you haven't destroyed his ability to report personnel you are probably in trouble anyway.

Mission phase seeding is important in this deck. Seed Empok Nor as soon as possible. You want the advantage of having close to your missions so that you can get it quick. The Search for Weapons approach is really great for this. Remember to exchange Fair Play for HQ: Defense Measures though to protect those easy to solve missions.

The first 6 turns are the most critical to play. Follow the below turns as closly as possible to maximize the effect. If you hit Friendly Fire at Empok Nor you will just have to ride it out. Protect your Computer Skill.

Turn 1: Download Mercenary Vessel OR play I.K.C. Heg'hta OR play I.K.C. Pagh, Q-Tent for Ready Room Door if you did not draw one. Play Ready Room Door for ships matching commander as appropriate, Baran, Kurn or Kargan. All three have Computer Skill. Load ship and fly to Empok Nor. Commandeer Empok Nor. Red Shirt Vekma if any Dilemmas are there.
Turn 2: Download Process Ore to Ore Processing Unit. Move Kle'eg to Ore Processing Unit.
Turn 3: Process Ore, Download I.K.C. Rotarran to Docking Ports, play Ready Room Door to download Martok to the I.K.C. Rotarran. Note: Process Ore will return the Ready Room Door to your hand at the beginning of each turn, so use it.
Turn 4: Process Ore, Download Cha'Joh to Docking Ports, play Ready Room Door to download Sisters of Duras to the Cha'Joh.
Turn 5: Process Ore, Download I.K.C. Heg'hta or I.K.C. Pagh to Docking Ports, play Ready Room Door to download Kurn or Kargan to his ship, lauch fleet towards opponents facility.
Turn 6: Process Ore, Play a personnel card, download Captain's Log with Ready Room Door and protect it with the ready room door, attack facility.

Adjust your play according to your opponent's strategy. If your opponent plays Red Alert!, download Yellow Alert with Ready Room Door. If you are close to a Neutral Outpost launch fleet on turn 4. A smart player adjusts to his opponents strategies to head him off.

This deck will need to be upgraded with Blaze of Glory cards, I already have some ideas for it. I would share but you never know I may play you someday and I would like to have a few surprises for you.

The Supreme Commander of the Klingon Defense Force has determined that this deck can help reduce stress after a hard week at or work or in classes.

Qapla'!
