Profession Tips

       Any class or kit not listed is not allowed in my campaign. One exception is if you know a class or perhaps a kit has just been granted permission for use in my campaign.

       Do not bother asking me for any classes or kits listed on forbidden classes and kits area if they can be used. The answer for these will always be No!

       Do not have a fit or public outburst; This tells me you as a player are not ready for this class.

       Do not argue with me. The more you argue with me the more likely I am to never allow you to run this class.

       Do plan ahead so that you have multiple class choices already planned out.

       I do reserve the right to restrict classes to those I feel can run them within acceptable guidelines.

       Do read the following paragraph from top to bottom.

 

         The classes are listed in groups. Each group has a group heading or titie follwed underneath by the classes which fall into that group. A class might fall into more than one group, in which case it will be listed in eachgroup it fits with the group it fits most into having a beside it. Furthermore, I have taken the time to list the source for each and every class so you know where to go if you want more information on any class.

 

         I have taken the time to include the chance for finding an Instructor; You may or may not have to roll % dice to get into any class. If there is a % range or % number listed, then you must either roll a number in the indicated range or you must roll equal to or less than the number listed. I may or may not require the Instructor roll be done in front of me where I can see. If I ask for it , you wiil either roll the instructor roll where I can see it or you will not generate a member of that class.

 

         On sources, GZ means I made the class, CME for Chris Eng, CP is Chuck Potter, Dragon # = Dragon Issue , BoD # = Best of Dragon Issue, and a multiple source means there is a combination source. You may roll once and only once for each and every class.

 

         If any class has (NPC) behind it, then that class is not open for player charecters. Always consult the notes for a class before you even think about making a charecter for that class and always ask me before you write anything down for classes as I may not want you running that class or classes for one or more reasons. I reserve the rights to allow or disallow any player from any class availible. An explanation may or may not be given. I will reply one way or the other when you ask about if the desired class is open to you at this time or not. If I say no, drop the class request fast or risk my wrath. Those players who don't accept my decision and argue with me may find all subsequent requests for making and/or running any non standard and non 100% official class denied!! Do yourself a favor and have 2 or 3 classes you would like to make and/or run a character before asking my for permission in case I deny your request. Females indicates if a charecter may be female for that class. If there is a no, then a charecter may not be female. Likewise, if there is a always, then the charecter must be female.

These professions are very endangered species. Only the real old timers have any twinkling of what these professions do. It is going to take a miracle inside a major, major population center to find any trace for so much as one person of these professions.

L

Limited

These professions does exist in sufficent quantities that finding a practioner is more than a minor problem but not quite major problem outside the major city or population areas. These professions has seen better days.

S

Scare

These professions are nearly impossible to find outside major population centers. If you need one of these professions, head for a major city where you might get lucky.

U

Unheard

These professions are a legend. No one inside any major population center has more than a almost non existant chance to even have heard of these and that is if the person asked is a scholar! These professions did walk the world at one time in good quantities but no more. If any of these professions exist exist in numbers larger than <> 200, the practioners are hiding somewhere.

E

Extienct ?

These professions are now unknown. No trace exists outside very old structures and places. 99.75% of all persons believe these professions to be a myth and no more. Sages who specialize in Ancient History might be able to find a trace or 2 if at least 3 months of study is preformed. These professions were scarce back when Magic Weilders were the defacto powers.

All classes or kits following are declared forbidden in my campaign. You as a player will neither encounter any members of these classes or kits nor may you ever run a character with these as profession. This is neither negotiable nor debatable in any form at any time! I may or may not change this listing at any time. If a class or kit comes off this listing, then you may now use it. If a class or kit gets added, you may no longer create or introduce any further characters with this class or kit. I will probably allow existing characters already in game play to contine. I do reserve the right to remove instantly any class or kit from gameplay immediately without any delay; The offending classes for any character must be converted to something else before that character may be used again.

 

The format used is simple. The forbidden class or kit source category regardless of its exact type is listed on a single line. Following this source line is all classes and /or kits that I have declared forbidden in my AD&D campaign. If a source is not listed, then the classes and /or kits contained therein may be permittable in my campaign. Before you ask me, do look up top first.

Instructor Note

A special under instructor means special circumstances apply towards finding an instructor. This list is the final say on instructor availability, ignore % listed on individual class write ups. I will review this file when I feel like it and may change anything at that time. I reserve the right to edit any class at any time in my campaign in any way I so choose. I have the final say on anything in my grand campaign. If I received a class from someone else, then only thing I will change without permission is eeps. If a class has the word "closed" under instructor, then the class is indefinitely closed and non operational. You may not use it. All kits are inferior to their class brethren of the same name. and no, I will not remove a class that has a kit equivalent. I may terminate the kit but the class is around for good. If there is no reason or reasons for a class,then I will terminate the class and the kit together. I will never terminate the class only as kits are a inferior write up by their nature.

All the kits are very experimental. I will be make reviews of them whenever I feel like it If you take any profession that has more than one write up please don't make me guess which version you are using , I will take the least versatile or the most common. you will then be held accountable for all rules of that write up even if it is different and harder than the one you are really using. Record the specific write up that you character is using.

 


 

 

Extremely Important Note

The following classes are extremely dangerous. I repeat, the following classes are extremely dangerous and I mean dangerous. The classes, classes not kits that you should use extreme caution in any

dealings with are: Assassin, Deathlord, Bounty Hunter, & Ninja. Why should these classes hold so much terror that they are ............. "Extremely Dangerous: Approach and handle with extreme caution". What makes them so deadly is they are created and are used almost exclusively by 1st edition ad&d rules. They use only the 2nd edition skills, money system, and equipment use. They retain their old equipment selection, hit dice, eeps system, class bonuses and disadvantages , class special abilities, and languages, and anything else that is part of the class. All have one special ability in common; Assassination. Assassination defined is the ability to kill instantly your foe with a single well placed hit. Such ability takes years of work as you must memorize the anatomy, blood flow, nerve system, and organ placing exactly and know precisely where to put that single blow. You must also make the blow the correct depth, not too shallow or deep, but just right. This isn't a called shot,it works all the time with no penalty to either initiative or to hit roll and most importantly, if it hits, you are are in very deep cocka. You are either terminated immediately aka history aka bought the farm aka show is over aka dead aka croaked aka pushing up daisies aka conversing with theground or whatever, and dead is dead is dead!!!! or it is a serious maybe even critical hit. The class and only the class versions can do this neat totally disruptive destructive ability. The kits are total absolute wimps concerning this ability or anything like it.

Female Rights

Since my campaign style is set in a European/Asian style campaign frame of the dark ages, females have it very rough in many areas. Their legal rights, property rights, social rights, and personal rights are very different from real life America of 2002. Think Dark Ages of Europe and possibly Renaissance period of Japan for base rights that females have by default. Now I do have a variable female rights group that may or may not fully apply depending on where a person is currently. Here is a small sample of those “rights” that females enjoy.

 

Females have these among others as non rights...

1.      Females have no legal rights.

2.      Females are the property of their fathers until married and then become the property of their husband

3.      Females may not own property as a general rule.

4.      Females may not go to courts for any legal assistance or to press charges. Nor may they attempt to sue anyone.

5.      Females may not be allowed to learn many skills.

6.      Females are expected to know their place.

7.      Females will raise all children to adulthood as desired and directed by the father.

8.      Females may not have a job without permission from father until married. After marriage, permission is required by her husband. Females are not supposed to be working or in a fantasy environment like AD&D default, adventuring. They are supposed to be doing female chores and tasks like keeping the house up, raising the children, teaching the children, cleaning the house, cooking, cleaning clothes, and bearing babies.

9.      Females should not be wandering around. They need to be at home taking care of things there.

 

If you disbelieve me about how bad it was, go look up a history book dealing with women’s rights pre 1800 especially Renaissance or earlier. It was not pretty by today’s standards. Indeed, some parts of the world are darn close to that today. Look at what Women can do in parts of the Middle East and Asia as a general rule; Middle Eastern women in many Islamic states are pretty darn jacked when it comes to their rights.

These classes are female only and will never allow males to be trained as one of them. These gals are often amazons and/or amazon like nation or tribe members.

Nobility have always discouraged females adventuring but after the triad war was over, they didn't just discourage it. They all but banned it absolutely. Thus any female pc of lower upper class or better is effectively banned from these classes as the personal who can train them won't train them. There are a few exceptions in some areas and there are always those gals who are so determined that they find a way to circumvent "The No Lady Trainees" rule. These are rare though Some geographical areas remain at pre triad war levels of civilization and thus females can be of these classes but these are rare.

Females are plain discouraged from adventuring and can expect constanthardships, harassment, double standards, sexual abuse, legal problems,insults, getting ignored, barred from establishments, and other nasty and not so nice treatment. There are a few areas mainly amazon or amazon like areas that will treat them fairly well

The uncivilized people have rarely been of sufficient mentality to allow their womenfolk to adventure. This general effect policy has been supercharged and enhanced by the triad war and no females may generated of this class currently. Any females of this class currently existing are banned from their homeland unless they want to retire permanently as they will be required to take up a traditional female profession as mother and wife! Amazons and amazon like people are the only sources of females for these classes now.

Gender is not important for these classes as the person is unimportant. Family is all and family alone is all important. Whether the person is a male or female is inconsequential. If the person can meet the physical and mental requirements, he or she may join the class desired. Gender is totally ignored for class requirements. Females will be treated just like the guys will; if a gal of one these classes goofs up and the goof is punishable by death by seppuku, then she will be expected to commit seppuku. Punishment and Rewards will be handed out according to performance and things done with gender taking no role or value at any time.

These classes allow females but they are worse than #3 above

These classes offer the best choices for female adventuresses. While no female may ever be a slaver guard or reeducator, on the average, all other classes are open and available. The females can still expect treatment as outlined under #3 when dealing with society including the underworld. If a gal proves herself and she is a member of the proper guild except scouts, She will be treated as an equal within that guild and all affiliated guilds. Scouts who are more warriors than thieves, join warrior guilds and thus female scouts will be treated as indicated under #3. A small percentage of scouts join thieves guilds but this is rare and most likely the scouts doing so are male.

Females have never really been welcome as an arcaneist but generally speaking, the reception has usually been warmer than warrior group. Females will never be allowed into any but the most liberal universities of magic outside amazon areas. They might find a lone mentor outside of thecity/town that will take them if they have sufficient patience, willpower,and desire. Before warned, many times the price can be very high for magical training such as becoming a private personal Mistress/Prostitute for the training period if not as long as the female arcaneist lives. The female arcaneist may be required to put up with wandering mentor hands all over her body or worse.

Females may be a healer or a psionicist class but that is all without extreme persecution as outlined under #3 if allowed to join at all. Warlords and Timelords are way outside of the normal socio-economic civilized behavior parameters of normal civilization and thus if they want to allow females join, no one except an major eldar deity can tell them otherwise. Of course, timelords and warlords are extremely, extremely rare in appearance anyhow so don't expect to see them too often at all be they male or female.

Some deities only permit females as priests and clergy members; The deity has no males as clergy whatsoever. These deities are usually female but not always. Within the church and on or around church owned and/or controlled areas/grounds, females will be treated very well especially female clergy of the deity. Unfortunately, these priestesses are treated even whose than other females in most areas. They will be treated as #3 above but much, much worse than other gals. Everything will be done to extremes as these gals represent a grave threat to the normal order. Lynch mobs trying to kill them or worse are common. Slaver "recruitment " squads may be given green light for operation by the authorities. Service will be very poor or outright denied in all but the most liberal shops and establishments. Sexual harassment will be great with the authorities looking the other way. Legal rights may be non existent and any pleas for city watch assistance may fall on deaf ears if your are the victim yet if you commit a crime, they will be all over you like stink on shit. If you need some military help, sorry we can't help you as we are too busy and/or stretched too far. If someone asks for help to destroy your fortress home so you can either be enslaved or killed, they will call out the reserves and auxiliary troops so you be handled. Arson, rape, vandalism, kidnapping, murder, enslavement, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, forced prostitution, theft, breaking and entering, robbery, armed robbery, assault, mugging, or anything else anybody wants to do is generally fine with the law enforcement and military. There are some areas that this treatment won't fly but these are extremely uncommon to very rare depending in what part of the multiverse you are in.

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

 

Racial Notes

The current common allowed races in my campaign are dwarves(hill, mountain, high, and deep), elves(drow, high, grey, and valley), half elves(drow, high, grey, and valley), halflings, humans, kender, and kyrnn minotaurs.

The special allowed races do include Dunedain, dragons, and various half types.

The current allowed half types are half deva, half dragon, half demon, half daemon, half devils, and half vampire.

Make no plans for running an non standard race character. Until I tell you, I will allow you to run a character of this type, you may not.

 

1:      Most races do allow at least warrior with Barbarian and Berseker fairly common.

2:      Priest and Priest Master are always allowed for all races.

3:      Most races can choose freely from these listings. Kyrnn Minotaurs are an exception. No Kyrnn Minotaur can be any rogue.

4:      Elves, Half Elves, and Humans will have total free play in this class group. All others will be sorely restricted if allowed at all. Dwarves, Kender, and Kyrnn Minotaurs are not allowed in this class group.

5:      Elves, Half Elves, and Humans will have some choices in this class group. As a general rule, All other races are banned from this class group.
