"the truth is why bother, its what it feels like underwater; when you're drowning in your own pool, and theres nothing left but to just look cool." - lyric from Drowning Surrender
Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Kevin "the Kikwizard" Mennig.
I was born in the lovely town of Scranton Pennsylvania on May 24th 1980. I live in a shanty in Scranton. I've lived in my Dalton home for the majority of my life. With only one year being spent at East Stroudsburg University. I have one brother whom is 10 years younger than me.
The name Kikwizard comes from my love for over-sized pants; namely Kikwear jeans. You get the idea.
My music began in 1996 with both the purchase of an electric guitar and a 4-track recorder. At the time I worked under the name Sichlid. This name came from my love for fish; the genus Cichlid comes from Africa. Its actually a very aggressive fish (even though I'm not that aggresive). Through time, I've acquired many musical instruments, effects processors, and various other things that contribute to the over-all musical experience.
Currently, I own an 8 track digital recorder, full drum set, 4 string bass, 12 string guitar, 6 string electric, several keyboards, 3 tambourines, bongos, sleigh-bells, etc.
My very good friend Wes Sanford was a big part of the music during the times of Sichlid. Collaborations weren't as common then, but Ross Conklin contributed a considerable amount as well.
After the Sichlid era, I did the "solo" era.
If I could pinpoint an exact reason why I separate the two eras I would. Most of the reason was Wes moving away. However, when I first made the decision to go under my own name off of Sichlid, It was to make a completely solo (and a bit more personal) album.
Thus, one question remains. Do I separate the solo era from Kikwizard releases? The answer is yes. It stems from Spiral Staircase being such a fun multi-collaborative process, it kicked off the era that might be ending pending the release of this next album. But who knows? Find out more about a glorius era by going back to my main page. Or continue on!
