This month was really fun because of all the family and visiting. Elizabeth got to meet my great-aunt Mabel Lee, and she got to play with her brand new cousin, Katherine for the first time. On Easter, she had a gorgeous dress from her Grandmum Nix. It came with a pretty cardigan to wear over, but Lizzie didn't keep it on for long. She's growing out of all her clothes, now, and she's been teething like crazy again. Just watching how fast her little body changes makes me tired for her. No wonder she sleeps so much, right? Enjoy the pictures!

Look at all these relatives. We must be Southern or something.

She's still just a baby.

Grandmas are ladies who like babies.
That's what I gather, anyway.
Katherine's Grandma Holland is my Great-Aunt Martha.
My MaMaw Holland is Katherine's Great-Aunt Sandy. Cool, huh?

Health:

Elizabeth had a bout with sinus infection from April 20th - 25th. She also got another round of shots on May 3rd.

Eating Habits:

Lizzie eats a wide variety of baby food, now. She typically eats 1/2 a jar in the morning and a full jar at other meals. She eats Cheerios (she recognizes the big, yellow box) and samples from other people's plates throughout the day. She's not a heavy eater, but she likes to eat frequently. Being independent like she is, she is determined to self-feed. We give her cheerios or something to pick up herself at every meal. If we didn't do this, she wouldn't accept spoon-feeding. As long as she can feed herself between spoonfuls, she seems satisfied.

Sleeping Habits:

Because of the sickness, she began waking in the night multiple times, again. This has really thrown off her sleep schedule. I'm confident that it's only a temporary thing, however, and that Lizzie will be back on a good sleep regimen as soon as she can breathe through her nose again.

Development:

Elizabeth has excellent dexterity in her hands. She is very good with thumb/forefinger manipulation, and she has a very strong and deliberate grip.
The baby babbling noises have become something more structured. She now mixes verbs and consonants very well and makes a variety of baby "words" that really sound more like a foreign language that just a bunch of cooing and noises. She also mimics a few sounds (tongue clicks, "da," and "ba"). Like someone else we all know...Elizabeth never, never ever, stops talking.
In the "quest for walking," Lizzie has gotten very steady in her standing, and she shifts weight from one foot to the other quite easily. We notice her do this whenever she is playing while upright and leaning against a table or piece of furniture. She also supports herself while standing with only one hand while she does something else with the other. It's not cruising, exactly, but it's something.

Visiting:

Ashley stayed with us in Felsenthal from April 17th - 23rd.

Elizabeth first watched television this month. She got several new Baby Einstein videos, and she actively watched them all the way through. She's paid attention to tv for several moments at a time before, but never like this. On April 18th, Elizabeth first crawled up on her hands and knees. She has almost entirely abandoned the low-crawl that she favored up to this point.
