Elizabeth's second month was full of firsts and adventures. There were lots of visitors and visiting, and Elizabeth finished meeting all of her grandparents. She began to smile, giggle, and coo this month, as well. 2nd-month vaccinations came at the end of the month, and Elizabeth reached 12 pounds! On her first trip away from home, she braved the swampland of southern Arkansas to go fishing and 4-wheeling. Elizabeth came back with not one mosquito bite. We were very proud of that. The surprise we had in traveling with Lizzie is that, everywhere we go, people give her outfits and presents. Having a beautiful daughter is a good way to get gifts, apparently. Who knew? Hee hee. Elizabeth is, indeed, very healthy and happy, but - more importantly - she's very, very cute. Ha ha ha. Here's another month of pictures for you.

Health:

Elizabeth’s eye has totally cleared up, and Dr. Hu is confident that her tear duct is functioning normally now.
At the beginning of the month, Lizzie had a lot of little red bumps called Milia on her face. Those have all cleared up, now, in early October.
Chronic painful gassiness & constipation. We treat with Mylicon gas drops and glycerin
12 pounds, 8 ounces at 2-month checkup. Head=40cm 23” long.
We think she might be starting to teethe. She is beginning to drool and loves to have her gums rubbed. She is occasionally fussy for no reason and will calm if given something to chew on or if she has her gums massaged.
We went in for her 2-month vaccinations on October 8th. She got all the recommended vaccines in 3 injections. She was very very good about getting her shots and only cried a little. Later, when the tetanus shot started to hurt her leg muscles, she cried loudly for about an hour and was tired for the next two days. We treated her soreness with Infant Tylenol, and she felt better almost immediately.
Lizzie has not had any sickness in her 2nd month

Visitors:

Mike & Sandy Holland visited
First road trip - Felsenthal, AR to visit Mamma & Papa Jack Newbury - went fishing!
Second road trip - St. Louis, MO to visit Auntie Melissa Meeker - (helped her move)

Eating Habits:

Soy & Dairy Formula (Enfamil & Nestle Good Start) 4 - 6 oz. per feeding
Regularly eats 24 ounces + per day

Sleeping Habits:

Lizzie sleeps through the night regularly, now, but occasionally wakes up around 3am for a feeding.
Usually takes two, 1 to 2-hour naps throughout the day.

Development:

Can follow with her eyes, now, as well as by turning her head.
Elizabeth coos and “talks” a lot, now. It’s not yet intentional, but we think she’ll find her voice any day, now.
Lizzie has started smiling a lot and recognizing faces. She even laughed for her Mamma Newbury.

Elizabeth's first professional portrait was taken at a little studio called “The Picture People.” We took her on her first road trip all the way from Indianapolis to Felsenthal, Arkansas to visit her Grandparents Newbury. Her first vaccination shots were given on October 8th to complete the 2 month-old regimen that is recommended. Lizzie laughed for the first time this month when her Mamma Newbury played “Patty Cake” with her. She'd been smiling off and on, but we could never tell, before this month, if it was on purpose or because of gas bubbles.
