November has been cold and wet and gray. Elizabeth is getting used to being bundled up in heavy jackets and hats and being wrapped in thicker blankets. She has taken everything in stride, however, and we're pretty convinced that she is the most laid-back baby ever born. Here is the fourth month's pictures. We hope to add a few more in the coming week.

Health:

Lizzie will get her 4-month vaccinations in the first week of December.
The stomach/gas pain that has been a constant problem for Elizabeth since she was born has subsided, somewhat. We still give the gas drops when she seems to have lots of tummy bubbles, but it’s really gotten a LOT better in this past month.
We intend to discuss Elizabeth’s constant sneezing with Dr. Hu at our vaccination visit. Lizzie doesn’t seem sick at all, but she sneezes frequently every day. We’re concerned that she may have allergies to either the animals or something else in our home environment.

Eating Habits:

Nestle Good Start Supreme Formula
6 ounces per feeding
Regularly eats 24 ounces + per day
We plan to start solids in early December with rice cereal

Sleeping Habits:

Elizabeth made it through her entire 4th month without waking in the night. She sleeps from 9:30 or 10:00pm through to 8am…every day. What a lucky set of parents we are!

Development:

Elizabeth has greatly broadened her vocal repertoire. She squeals, laughs, gurgles, whines, razzes, and makes multiple babbling sounds.
We caught up in physical strength this month. Lizzie pushes up her head to 90 degrees and looks around whenever she’s on her stomach. Occasionally, she will lift up onto her arms during tummy time. She doesn’t roll from back-to-tummy, yet, but she’s come very close many times. We think she is resisting because she doesn’t like being on her stomach.
This month, Elizabeth began reaching for things and holding on to anything she can grab. She has almost mastered the hand-to-mouth skill - EVERYTHING goes in her mouth.
Lizzie has begun to enjoy playing with her stuffed animals and teething rings. She also has a set of baby rings that she likes to rattle and grip. She will occasionally protest, now, if we take something that she was chewing on away from her.

We bravely handed Elizabeth over to her first babysitter on November 8th. She stayed with my dear friend, Jessica Roybal for 5 hours while we attended the Marine Corps Ball with Ashley‘s unit in Colorado. We got Lizzie her first pair of blue jeans this month, and they are really adorable. They were a very appreciated hand-me-down from our friend, Jessica Lopez and her youngest daughter, Mercedes. The first real toy was given to Elizabeth this month. It was a colorful set of plastic rings that attach to her stroller, carseat, or crib rail. She loves them, and she quickly mastered reaching for them, gripping them, and putting them into her mouth. Lizzie’s first Thanksgiving came on November 27th, and it was a wonderful, peaceful day. We took Lizzie Christmas shopping for the first time on November 28th with her Grandmum Nix. It was a long day, and she was very well-behaved and happy the entire time. We were very proud of her. Finally, she sat with Ashley and me for our first family portrait on November 29th.
