My FH World does not yet have a name. I suppose that the people in this world would call it earth. It has similiar size, gravity, and climate to Earth. It has one moon similiar to earth's, and a small asteroid orbiting in a larger slower orbit. I haven't determined what other planets are in the same solar system. In the universe in which this world exists there cannot and does not exist any omnipotent anything. There is no all powerful creator of everything. Omnipotence is by definition impossible for anything other than the whole of reality to possess. As such there is no Maker to dictate any behavioral Law that binds the actions of anyone. There are however many groups which have made laws to be followed or broken, but they cannot be logically or philosophically held to be absolute. There are many beings of great power in this world, some of which play at being gods. The primary sentient race of the world is pretty much the same as the human species, with the most notable differences being somewhat greater frequency of psychic powers, and that all members of the species are capable of manifesting lycanthropic abilities, although very few do. I haven't decided if there will be other sentient humanoid species in the world. There will most likely be some non-humanoid sentient species, such as dragons. There will be non-human sentient species created by magical experimentation or other means. Lycanthropy on this world is very different from the way it is in AD&D and most other worlds. This type of ability to transform partially or completely is a sleeping power present in all of the human species of this world. It is not a disease in biological or magical terms, although it could inaccuratly be thought of as a psychological disease. Lycanthropy is awakened in an individual when certain mental conditions are met. The semi-psychic link between a mother and unborn child causes most children born to lycanthropic mothers to be born with awakened or lightly 'sleeping' lycanthropy. It is possible to put the Lycanthropic power back to sleep, but it is difficult. Werewolves are not immune to "normal damage", their bite doesn't do anything special, and silver and garlic don't do anything special to them. Lycanthropy doesn't cause evil tendencies. Undead will exist on this world, but I haven't yet defined exactly how it will be. Undead are hard to pin down, because it is hard to describe what is meant by dead, but not dead. Technically the term undead is equal to the word living, which is not what it is used for in most fiction. If anything on this world is called vampire, it will either be the same mental spiritual entity that it was before becoming a vampire and not be undead or powerful, or it will be a different mental spiritual entity than the physical form was attached to before becoming a vampire and will be undead and maybe powerful, but most likely just an animated corpse consuming the flesh and/or blood of the living. In other words, there are no glamorous, forever young, blood feasting, super strong, undead, entities on this world, and if any try to enter, there is an anti paradox field that blocks entry or destroys them. May all blood sucking vampires burn in the eternal day of the sunlit side of a tidelocked world forever. The HERO system will be used for the statistics on this page, but I will not be using the Standard Magic System(campaign magic rules) presented in the Fantasy HERO genre book. Other material from the Fantasy HERO genre book will be used. |
