2500 to 2200 Ergoth Dominant: The nation of Ergoth, still expanding, reaches the borders of Thorbardin and Silvanesti. This results in small fighting and an uneasy truce with the dwarves, and trading and intermarrying with the western elves. 2308 Sithas and Kith-Kanan Born: The twin sons of Sithel are born, Sithas minutes older than Kith-Kanan. 2192 Sithel Slain: As Sithel leads a hunting expedition into the western reaches of Silvanesti, hes party accidentally meets up with a human hunting party. Sithel, concealed by brush, is mistakenly shot and killed by a human hunter. The result is the Kinslayer War. 2192 to 2140 Kinslayer War: As the elves attempt to drive humans from Silvanesti, the humans defend themselves with ferocity. Intermarried elves are forced to fight their human kin in this savage war. Kith-Kanan leads the western elves in war, as, in the mean time, Sithas strengthens his hold upon the Silvanesti throne. The war finally ends in a truce. 2140 to 2100 Sundering of Silvanesti: Although the western elves are once again heroes, they are ashamed of the killing of the Kinslayer War. As the philosiphies of the western elves have altered from those of the rigid elven caste system, the western elves sue for freedom of self-determination. Ergoth/Thorbardin Clash: As a series of border disputes leads to renewed bickering among the dwarves and humans, the possibility of all-out war comes closer. 2073 Swordsheath Scroll Signed: The emperor of Ergoth, the elves of Silvanesti, and the dwarves of Thorbardin sign a pact of peace, namely the Swordsheath Scroll, which solves the most pressing problems of the time. The scroll deecrees that the elves of western Silvanesti be granted a large tract of woodland north of Thorbardin, where they can live as they wish. This land, named Qualinesti, also acts as a "buffer" between the dwarves and humans. Ergoth aggrees to stop mining the Kharolis Mountains, and the dwarves agree to relaax trading restrictions between themselves and the humans. 2050 to 2030 The Great March: Under their leader, Kith Kanan, the western elves of Silvanesti migrate to Qualinesti, to begin colonization of their new homeland. 2000 to 1400 Peace: The land of Ansalon prospers. As the bonds between the Qualinesti elves and Thorbardin dwarves are strengthened by Kith Kanan, the two races erect the fortress of Pax Tharkas, to serve as a monument to their lasting peace. Meanwhile, sucessors of the Quevalin line rule Ergoth with just and benign hands. 1400 to 1250 Rebellions in the East: The Ergothian rulers gradually begin to abuse and exploit their subjects. The provinces in the eastern corners of the empire, after heavy taxation and repression, revolt. Though these skirmishes are brief, they are very violent, and the emperors are forced to use their troops regularly. Each rebellion is larger than its predacessor. 1262 Vinas Solamnus Commands Imperial Guard: A skilled commander responsible for crushing a number of rebellions is appointed to the highest military post in the empire. 1251 Great Rising in Vingaard: As the largest rebellion so far shakes the plains of Vingaard and Solanthus Solamnus marches east with a huge army, to crush the rebellion once again. 1250 Year of Waiting: As Solamnus studies the grievances of the eastern peoples, determined to end the rebellion without a massacre, he gradually realizes that the empire has incited the rebellions, through vile and repressive treatment. Solamnus, with most of his army, join the rebels at the year's end. 1249 to 1242 Union of the Plains States: Achievina a quasi-independence, the nations of eastern Ergoth rally to Solamnus, as he patiently trains his mighty army. 1241 Fall of Ergoth: Leading his army west, Solamnus outmaneuvers Ergoth's army and lays siege to its capital, accepting the emperor's surrender in the spring of 1240. Each of the emperor's subject states is granted the right of self-determination, and although the nations of Ergoth remain loyal to the crown, many of the outlying states become independant, or join the new nation of Solamnia. Solamnus swears to the elves and dwarves that he will abide by the terms of the Swordsheath Scroll. 1225 Knights of Solamnia Formed: Vinas Solamnus forms an order of knights dedicated to the causes of goodness and freedom, and as Aolamnia prospers, it is joined by the states of Palanthus, Lemish, and Caergoth. 1100 to 800 Foundation of Istar: Until now, the tribes of eastern Ansalon have been a collection of bickering barbarians. They gradually unite, and the Council of Istar establishes a unified government, and begins to trade with Solamnia. Solamnia Prospers: Ergoth relies on Solamnia for protection and trade, while the dynasty founded by Solamnus is extended by his descendants. 773 to 760 As Istar expands, border skirmishes between it and Silvanesti threaten the elven homeland once again. Finally, Istar, with the persuasion of Solamnia and the elves, adds its signature to the Swordsheath Scroll. 700 to 600 Ogre Wars: After armies of ogres emerge from the Khalkhist Mountains, raiding across the plains of Solamnia and the fields of Istar, Solamnia and Istar unite, and drive the ogres back into the mountains. 600 to 280 Union of Solamnia/Istar Solidified: Istar and Solamnia become more interdependent, the Knights of Solamnia serving as the military strength and Istar providing artistic and educational talents. Istar becomes the dominant partner. 280 First Kingpriest Declared: As Istar is proclaimed the canter of the world, the anointment of the first Kingpriest silidifies the bond between Solamnia and Istar. 260 Construction of the Temple of the Kingpriest Commences: The greatest artisans of Krynn are brought to Istar to build a temple that will proclaim to the world and gods alike the glory of Istar. 212 Temple Completed: The Kingpriest, who immediately takes up residence there, blesses the temple, which is widely proclaimed as the finest example of architecture ever. 250 to 100 Elves Shun Other Races: Growing increasingly disgusted by the frantic pace of human life and the arrogance of man about his own accomplishments, the Silvanesti withdraw into their forests and bar trade with the outside world. Visitors are prohibited from entering. 118 Proclamation of Manifest Virtue: Declaring that evil upon Krynn is an affront to the existence of the gods and men, the Kingpriest lists a defined set of evil acts, and those gound guilty of any of these acts are to be put to death. Clerics of good appointed by the Kingpriest journey throughout Krynn, seeking reports of evil acts and individuals. 94 Extermination of Evil Races Sanctioned: Unsatisfied with the Proclamation of Manifest Virtue, the Kingpriest adds a clause which states that certain races, like goblins, ogres, etc. are inherently evil, and therefore must be exterminated. As high bounties are offered, bounty hunters set out to eliminate these races. 80 to 20 Rise of Clerical Power: Istarian life falls increasingly under the influence of the clergy, and marriage, business contracts, and military expeditions require clerical approval. A loss of magic-user influence accompanies the rise of clerics, as mages are hounded as a source of evil and driven farther and farther underground. 6 Edict of Thought Control: The Kingpriest, asserting that evil thoughts constitute evil scts, declares that his clerics are to employ ESP spells to rid the world of evil. |
