IRC

IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. What it consists of are interconnected servers throughout the world which you use IRC clients to connect to. Its basically a virtual meeting place where you can meet and talk to people from around the world. As you get more experienced, you can learn how to do aliases, scripts, sounds and more.

1. Downloading a Client

It doesn't really matter which client you download, they serve the same purpose. Mirc is probably the most widely used. I recommend using it. Once you've downloaded the client, read over on how the commands work. The help files do wonders.

The most popular Dragonball channel resides on the server irc.fanfic.com and its mirror irc2.fanfic.com. You can set your ports to 6665-7000. The channel name is #db.

3. Some tips to follow...

Once you're in there, join in on the coversation. Here are some tips to help you along.

  • Don't Ask for Ops once you figure out what ops is, you'll probably want it. Begging for it doesn't help, it only ticks people off
  • Don't Type in All Caps this in IRC is the equivalent of screaming in someone's face
  • Don't Repeat the Same Question Over and Over if no one answers your question, it probably means they don't know the answer to it. Repeating won't help
  • Please Don't Advertise Your Page Repeatedly its ok to do it a couple of times just to get the word out
  • Have Fun! get to know more people

I am frequently on IRC. My nick is Paco. I usually stay in #db or #thegymnasium, hope to see you there!
