Kesac 11: Reunion

Locale: About halfway from Jidoor to Maranda

OOC: Sorry this took so long. I've had some personal
trouble in the past couple of months, and that's why
you haven't seen me around much either. Well...Kesac
11...

                   -|==========-

Darkness descended over the land. The sun dipped below
the edge of the horizon. Kesac had been walking since
mid-morning toward Maranda. Kesac looked around for a
place to camp. There was a small overhang nearby. Kesac
pitched his tent near the overhang...

---Later that night---

Kesac awoke to hear the sound of steel clanging against steel.
*What's that...sounds like...fighting?*  Kesac grabbed his
sword and rushed out toward the noise.

*It's the person who rescued me at the giant! But, who is he
fighting?* The man who rescued him at the giant was fighting
a cloaked figure. The cloaked figure looked like one of the
bandits from the mountains near Zozo. The man was wielding
a sword of moderate length, like the one Kesac uses. The
figure was wielding a small dagger. The man stepped to the
side of the figure and slashed at the figure, drawing blood.
The figure yelped and ran. The man put his sword back in his
scabbard and sighed. Kesac walked up to the man. "Way too
many bandits these days." The man nodded. "Agreed." Kesac
waved toward his tent. "Surely you must be tired. Need to
rest?" The man nodded. "Yes, it is late, and that battle
wore me out."

--A few minutes later--

Kesac started a campfire. "I didn't get a chance to thank you
for helping me at the Giant." The man shook his head. "It was
nothing." Kesac nodded. "What's your name?" The man replied,
"Rekar. And yours?" Kesac gasped. "You are...Rekar?" Rekar
nodded. "My name is...Kesac." Rekar looked a little shaken.
"Kesac...as in...my brother?" Kesac nodded. "Kesac Ruyil."

"We have a lot to talk about."

                   -|==========-

"Rekar...where have you been?"

"I've been living. Making money here and there...helping..."
Rekar suddenly looked glassy-eyed for a second, then returned
to normal.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing...nothing at all..."

Kesac sighed. Something disturbed him about his own brother...
but what could it be?

Kesac and Rekar talked throughout the night about other
stories of the past...

                   -|==========-

Dawn was approaching. Kesac looked to the west. A low cloud
bank was approaching. Kesac sighed. "Looks like rain today."
Rekar nodded. "Well, I have to be off, to find...something."
Kesac nodded. "I hope that we will meet again."

Rekar muttered under his breath..."We will, we will someday..."
