Doom is an action-packed exciting 3-D perspective game that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Moving from room to room you must explore several complexes filled with deadly aliens out to get you. As a trained marine from Earth, it is your job to secure the moon base located on Phobos (one of Mars's moons) in response to the following message: "We require immediate military support. Something evil is coming out of the Gateways! Computer systems have gone berserk!" The rest of the message was garbled. So, you were sent along with a team to arrive and secure the perimeter of the base. However, the sounds of combat and guns firing followed by dead silence over your radio told you that your team didn't make it. Something was here...and it is up to you to find out what...

"As you walk through the main entrance of the base, you hear animal-like growls echoing throughout the distant corridors. They know you're here. There's no turning back now."

STRATEGY

Here are some of my tips and strategies I use when playing Doom.

--Always run. Or at least when you're being attacked. A running target is always harder to hit that a walking (or stopped) one. Do this by holding down the SHIFT key when walking.

--Be a hard target. Use the Doom environment against your enemies. When being attacked, run behind obstacles, walls, and make it hard for them to get you. Then when they come around that corner, you'll be ready for them...

--Your enemies can also be your friends. If one enemy accidentally shoots another enemy (perhaps if one gets in the way of his shot), they WILL FIGHT each other until one of them dies, before moving on to you. So, try to start "little fights" when facing a group of enemies by positioning yourself in places where you put some of them in danger of being shot by one of their own. NOTE: This technique only works with certain enemies. For example, Imps do not fight other Imps, no matter how many times they are hit by one of their friend's fireballs.

--Be mobile. Remember the Strafe option(Holding down the Alt key). This allows you to move side-to-side, and it takes some practice to use effectively. This option can really help when you are fighting Imps. Whenever they throw a fireball at you, just move to the side and it will fly right past you! Strafe works well while holding down the Shift key to make you move faster. Once mastered, this technique can help you in several situations with multiple enemies.

--Let them come to you. If you enter a room where enemies may be to the left or right, then instead of going inside, try firing your gun once while waiting outside. The enemies will hear the gunfire and come rushing to you from within, which makes it is easier for you to target them, since they will be right in front of you (rather than rushing into the room where you may be faced with enemies on both sides firing at you). Or you could just march on in and take your chances. Whatever you prefer.

--Conserve your resources. Don't use up valuable items that have a temporary effect when you don't need them. If you get a Blur Artifact, it won't do much good if you face just a few enemies before it loses its effect. Plan to use it, say, before entering a large room with several enemies. They will often miss you with their shots and perhaps hit other enemies also. The same advise goes for the Radiation Suit, Berserk Packs, and Light Amplification Visors. Use them when they will benefit you the most. It won't do any good to get a Radiation Suit unless you find some radioactive pools to cross!

--And if all else fails...USE THE CODES!!
