Session 2

Told by Gairten

I wake up. The sun is directly above me and beating down on my face. I feel pain. I'm lying on sand and my lips are parched. I see Elrika and I seem to be in some sort of large trench. I half-crawl, half-drag my sun-burned body over to Elrika and attempt to wake her up. She awakens with a start and slowly sits up. As Elrika digs around, she finds Syf. After a while she comes to and we cast spells of protection against the desert heat, although my Resist Fire and Air Armor still don't seem to work quite normally. While travelling on Throne of Air for a while, I spot a piece of mosaic that looks just like one of the pictures seen in the cavern.

There is nothing but desert in each direction so we decide to just continue eastward. We finally reach a valley where I talk to a fur, which also complains about the absence of water. After performing my karma ritual and focusing on sensing any elemental water, I hear a strange buzzing sound in my head, much like flying insects. The buzzing finally went away, but by that time Syf and Elrika have seen green spots approaching us rapidly. When they came closer, we saw that they hadn't seen us and that they were winged horses, and so we tried to follow them.

Suddenly, we saw a huge flare to the North. When we investigated it, we saw the charred remains of what looked to be three mountain riders. As we came closer we were overwhelmed by the stench of singed meat, smoke, and other strange smells. After days without food the smell suddenly made me feel incredibly hungry, even as I was repelled by the odor. Syf unfortunately retched at the site, while Elrika was fascinated by it. The area around the riders had turned to glass, and there were scarcely any remains. When Syf looked into astral space, she told us that their spirits were still burning and had not left this existence.

As we continued East, we came upon more and more rocks and sparse vegetation. We were able to kill a few snakes and rats and so we rested. We set watch in three shifts, but during my watch, I spotted nine wolf-shaped humanoids approaching. I quietly woke up Syf and Elrika while reatuning to Ice Mace and Chain. Luckily, we were on high ground, but the leader was certainly an adept since he appeared to use fireblood three times. We finally defeated them, however the leader knocked Elrika unconscious, tore off part of her face and ate it. When we killed all of the wolf-men except the leader, he sprinted away.

We searched the unconscious wolf-men and found eight-sided coins with what appeared to be Theran writing, leather armor, provisions, and well as some gold and a longbow. After looking after Elrika until she was conscious again, we dragged the bodies into a row and tied up the three wolf-men that were still alive. We tried to talk to the two who had attacked Elrika but one of them killed itself after refusing to answer anything. Elrika could understand most of what it said since they spoke a variation of her native tongue. It called us Therans and said it wanted judgement. The magic-user Syf had poisoned awoke and cast an ice-cold glance at Elrika so Syf slit its throat.

As we attempted to sleep, a white luminescent wolf-bodied figure glided towards the dead bodies, reaching into each and drawing something which it then put into its mouth. The figure spotted us walking away from it and began to glide towards us. As we walked away from it, it suddenly disappeared and faded into back into existence in front of us. It introduced itself as Sanep, White Passion, Judge of the Dead. It told me that I had awakened something that I must put to sleep again and to stop it, I must find Martek. After a rough night, and with bad wounds, we tried to catch some more sleep before we continued onward.

All of the next day, while traveling on Throne of Air, Elrika became worse and worse as her face began to fester. By the end of the day, with Elrika unconscious, we finally reached some sort of small fishing village, and saw the ocean. Finis
