***'70s Rock Bad For The Soul Says Vatican***
The Cardinal in charge of the modern successor to the Inquisition has labelled modern music
an "instrument of the devil" and warned against the satanic influence of non-venerable acts
such as Queen, Pink Floyd, the Eagles and the Rolling Stones. Cardinal Joseph Ratziger is
Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and the highest moral authority in the
Vatican, after John Paul II. Ratziger used the Mass marking the feast of St Celia (patron saint of
music) as his platform to denounce rock music in general and heavy metal in particular for
promoting "diabolical and satanic messages". He also claimed that pop music "endangered
the human soul" and warned against "subliminal" satanic influence of pop groups such as The
Beatles.
