So everyone's all up in arms over politically retarded people such as Donald Trump and Warren Beatty running for the presidency. They're saying that simply because one has a lot of money or has been in the public eye for decades doesn't qualify them to be the leader of the free world. Well, I disagree. Or do I?...

In theory, the idea of a common man - that is, one who has little to no political experience - as president makes sense. A president's job is to be the all-around representative of the American people and their views, right? While this much is true, I don't think that that encompasses or even begins to describe the occupation of president of the United States. While a president does represent the nation, he also initiates and makes ground-breaking political decisions. I doubt that even someone like Donald Trump would know enough about political situations in not only our own country but the rest of the world to make intelligent presidential decisions. One might argue that presidents have advisors to help with that sort of thing. Well, if we have a politically weak man as president, do we really want his advisors making his decisions for him?

The President of the United States isn't a figurehead. Warren Beatty or Donald Trump could easily do a good job as the Queen of England (or maybe not), but for the President of the United States, I'd rather have someone who may not be as good-looking as Warren or as rich as Donald, but has the political experience and strong platform that are necessary to lead our country.

So, Megan, asks Joe Reader. If you could vote tomorrow, who would you vote for? Or, rather, for whom would you vote? Well, Joe, to be honest, I'd vote for Bill Bradley, hands down. Bill has the experience - New Jersey senator for 18 years - and a platform with which I almost totally agree. Who's your daddy, Bill?

So in conclusion, I tend to agree with those who are voicing their outrage at the motley assortment of presidential candidates. It would be nice to have a president as good-looking as Warren, though. However, I'm not too worried about it. Everybody knows that Al Gore's gonna lock it in anyway. *sigh*
