In the summer of 1996, in a place far far away and a news group long forgotten, a great and terrible war of words took place between several people that wished to express their own views of rules in AD&D. About that time a young web serfer ( we'll call her,,, ummmmm, Misty ) stubbled on this fight. She noticed that those involved were just babbling the same thing that has been said for years, And, in her near-sightedness, thought it would be a good idea to mock these people. In her breif article she formed the bases of a mock AD&D campain. Those on one side of the argument were the villans while those on the other side were the hero's. In a febble attempt to call for the Host ( we'll call her.... umm.... oh what the hey she was Purplelf ) of this news group to end this bickering, she added a God to the mock adventure by the name of Violet Elf ( get it ?? Purple - Violet..... ). The Host ( Purplelf ) liked this idea ( she must have seen humor in it ) and ran with it. Creating what became a series of short stories with several contributing authors ( Myself being one of them ). In the early winter of 1996 Purplelf asked me if I was interested in running the Violet Elf Saga. I said I would be, but at the time was very busy with personal matters. Since then the saga of Violet Elf has fadded away like last nights dream, only remembered by the few that took part. Now, it is time to give a proper dedication to that historical moment. This sight is in honor for the humor in gameing. What makes us laugh while gaming. What we see as funny in this "hobby" we all take part in. The joy and chearfullness we feal when other players make us laugh or we realize we made a blunder. That loud chear that goes up around the the table when a characture does something truely heroic. |

I would like to add these two statement: " It is not that we are good at it, just that we enjoy it". I know, it sounds a bit "zenish", but it's why I continue to role play. Put simplely, I enjoy it, and I enjoy the company of those that enjoy it. " We create our own Heaven ". This was one of my favorite quotes from the Violet Elf saga. and I think it is fitting here. On these pages I have created a heaven for the Great Elf, where ever she is. |
