"I hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain"
--Sweet Child O' Mine, Guns N'Roses
How do you prove to someone that you love them when nothing you do is ever enough?
What do you do when all that matters is that you hang up at the end of a call? That you end any visit by leaving? That you're not there with them now?
What do you do when someone searches for excuses to push you away, unfavorably compares you with other people any way they can, and tells you that you're not up to par in the places you come out on top?
What do you do when someone won't realize that just because they're more important to you than anything else, you can't let them be more important than everything else? That if you called them everytime you had the urge to, you'd never be off the phone? That if you visited every time you wanted to, you'd never leave their side? That things just don't work like that?
I keep trying. Even if it hurts to be dismissed. Even if it hurts to know that I can never help enough. Because even if she doesn't believe me, I love her.
