My first RPG ever was Dragon Warrior for the NES that was the bonus offer with the Nintendo Power description. I loved the game, although I was rather annoyed by the constant leveling up. Even my dad had a save game file on there. But, although I thought of it as a great game, I didn't hook me to the genre of RPGs. Consequently, I never have played many of the NES RPGs.
Flash forward a few years. Now what you will about to hear will sound really stupid, but true. Nintendo Power had an article on Final Fantasy 3. I read it, and it looked great, but still wouldn't buy it. Why? The battles. The battles looked too complex for me, because of active time instead of turn-based battles, and because I thought multiple allies/enemies would be too confusing (remember, DW is one on one). You can stop laughing now.
Then comes an article on Chrono Trigger. It looked SO, cool to me, but still, it looked to complex. However, for this game I decided to take a risk and go ahead an buy it... for $70. THIS is what I like to consider my first RPG, because it was the one to hook me into the genre of RPGs.
When the Internet made its big boom (and my family got online) I decided to make a webpage for my love for the genre. I chose the name of Crono & Dekar's RPG Homepage after I saw both of their hairdoos. On the games they are on (not the hand illustrations) their hair styles are very similar.
Now, some other info about myself:
"The penguin on your television set is about to explode." -- Monty Python's Flying Circus
"My love is my sword!" -- Dekar (Lufia 2)
"If I were to die all the world's women would grieve!" -- Edgar(Final Fantasy 3)
"..." -- Crono (Chrono Trigger)
"I know nothing." -- Unnamed Character (Zelda 2)
"SPELL MY NAME RIGHT #^$Q%^!" -- Me
"Is your ocean water blue?" -- My mom (long story)
