Fate Chips
Just think of all the possibilities there are to spice up the fate chip pot. Green chips, black chips, yellow chips, all having their own characteristics and quirks. Just be sure not to unbalance the Fate Pot too much as this could spoil the game somewhat...
The Los Diablos Fate Chip
Hmmmm...I came up with this idea recently. After realising how difficult it is to put the Los Diablos beasts down I decided I would reward any posse that could do this by putting a 5th type of Fate Chip in the pot - the Los Diablos Fate Chip.
If the posse ever kill a Los Diablos (which ain't easy!) then put a purple painted chip in the Fate Pot. This new chip has the following effects:
- The Los Diablos chip converts to 1d6 points of bounty at the end of a play session, roll the die after the chip has been cashed in!
- It will negate 5 wounds in combat in a single damage resolution, or 25 points of wind damage. However, it has no effect in stopping damage caused by the attacks of a Los Diablos, but then again it cannot be discarded by the effects of the Los Diablos' pre-attack visits, it does not count as the highest chip in the player's possesion.
- If a player (or the Marshal) spends this chip on a dice roll then completely re-roll the aptitude test and add the new total to the old one. I.E if a player rolled his Overawe and got a 13 then spends the Los Diablos Fate Chip he gets to roll all his Overawe dice again and add the new total to the total of 13 he first rolled. It's like rolling the test twice and adding the totals together.
- As to what effect these chips has on Knacks and certain miracles which require Fate Chips to invoke - it's up to the Marshal, but the effects of spending a Los Diablos fate chip should be extraordinary!
Both the Marshal and the Posse may draw and use the chip normally, and more than one Los Diablos chip may be in the pot at the same time.
