Harvey Bernstein

Background
Harvey is a tinhorn muckraker from New York and he's out in the Weird west as a freelance writer and Journalist after the Tombstone Epitaph refused to employ him. Being an arrrogant individual he decided it was their loss and set out to get the big scoop, which he figures will be easy after all the rumours he's heard about strange beasties roaming the land. Harvey is an annoying man with a whiney voice and tenacious character, once he figures he's onto the big story he will not give up! Even if he is obviously grasping at straws the mere whiff of the big scoop keeps him glued to his leads like a fly on horse mess! Currently he is covering the progress of the rail companies and following up rumours about the condition of railworkers used by Baron Simone LaCroix of Bayou Vermillion, which will probably land him in a whole heap of trouble. It's a miracle he's still alive as it is, he's been known to have a bit of a loose mouth on him at times - still, for some reason he tends to get out of a tight situation barely scathed. Some have joked that he's got 9 lives, if so then he must surely be on his last...

Appearance
Mr B. (as he likes to be called) is a slight man wearing a tan suit with top buttons undone, he sweats desparately and is always has an eager look about him. He also carries a "mysterious black case" (which actually contains his compact typewriter whipped up for him by an inventor back East) that often gets him stopped by railstation Marshal's who suspect him of being a spy. Harvey is 28 and has bright blue eyes. His long, curly head of hair is slowly balding, probably due to stress.

Quote -
"My pen, Mr Hardin, is mightier by far than that pistol you sport so fancifully, so don't go throwing threats around like an enraged chi-"

Notes...
Harvey is not a major part of the Deadlands world and only barely passes as a "hero" due to his determined streak. I use him generally when an adventure threatens to become boring, he tails the posse when he smells a story and tries to remain unoticed, it's up to the posse to find out who he is and what he's up to (play up his "mysterious black bag" as much as possible - suspicious posse members will give their right arm to find out what's inside!) if they eventually do confront Harvey he will explain who he is and may even be useful to the posse...especially if they are having problems with the adventure, or he may be a hindrance to the group if things are getting too easy for them (he gets in the line of fire, is kidnapped by bad guys, unwittingly gives away the posse's hiding place - you know what I mean...)
