Of course there's no substitute for the City O' Gloom sourcebook but I'll give you details on a few of the more likely locations that the posse will visit over the course of the adventure.
An exchange store in the middle of Junkyard where one can find small treasures if they look hard enough. This is basically a general store where the posse can get equipment and supplies, and anything else they may need. If you want to work a relic into the campaign then this is also a good way of doing it
Occupants Katherine Washington, proprietor. She's a good natured black woman who often gives out her goods on credit to the homeless and poor of Junkyard. She rarely chases up payment of items given out in this fashion. Posse members should be warned that she has a temper on her from time to time and doesn't like being pushed around or insulted. She has a Gatling pistol to back her up if need be!
Secrets - none really, but as mentioned before this place can be like an Aladin's Cave and a few of the items on display here could be really worth something amongst all that furniture, clothes, and scrap metal.
Located in Salt Lake City proper. Smith & Robards own Denver Pacific Rail and Denver Pacific Rail owns all the tracks to and from Denver from here. The owners do allow Wasatch, Black River, and Union Blue to use their lines but all trains are subject to spot searches by DP staff. The ticket office has records of train times and ticket purchased for the last 7 days.
Occupants A few armed guards and a ticket teller. He can give info on trains and tickets. The last train to Denver left at 1200hrs, it was a Wasatch Train. The next is at 2000hrs and is owned by Black River. Trains are less regular today as it's Sunday, during the week many more trains pass through this station.
Secrets Ace Stark didn't sign his real name when he bought a ticket, but the teller may remember his face if the posse ask and are struggling with the adventure. Zacharia Smithe is also fairly well known here as he works on a lot of Wasatch's trains.
Located in Salt Lake City, this new enterprise offers a basket ride underneath a Gyrocopter to Denver for $50 a ride. Use this if the posse are struggling for a way to catch the runaway train in time. The gyrocopter is not as fast as the Rocket Car but can take a more direct route and is not slowed by ground elevation. This hire service appears in the adventure Fortress of Fear.
A Junkyard Saloon which is six storeys above the acidic sludge river which flows through this part of the city. The big attraction is the game of Swing where two competitors swing out at each other on ropes through the steel sky and attempt to gut each other or cut the rope of their opponent. When one falls from their rope to the river below the other has won. Bets are often placed on the outcome and Swing is fast becoming one of the most polular spectator sports in the city!
Occupants Clarence "The Shark" Venturino. An ex Swing player himself, he set up and converted the establishemnt into the premier swing venue in the city.
Junkyard's only brothel. The Mormon's overlook this breach of the rules because it keeps the Gentiles happy. It costs 25 cents to watch the dances (ie enter the establishment) and from $5 for a more personal dance with a lady.
Occupants Madame Marie herself does not partake in her establishment's trade, that's all behind her now. There are about 20 girls working here, of varying degrees of beauty. However, all are friendly and accomodating. The Dance Hall does suffer from the protests of Rev.Hungate who is a member of the Moral Society and delivers his sermons outside the Dance Hall from time to time, he's a real fire n brimstone character!
This was the first of Hellstromme's industrial plants and builds all his steamwagons and trains. There are several projects going on at any one time and Hellstromme is always pushing to make his trains to be faster, stronger, better armed and more comfortable. This is also where the Wasatch Rocket Car is being developed and tested.
Occupants Zacharia Smithe is part of the Rocket Car team but cannot be found here today. "Spanners" McCoy knew him best and she is the chief mechanic on the Rocket Car project.
This is the largest apartment building in Junkyard with over 200 rooms. Each one is packed with between 2 and 5 individuals and it costs tenants $5 a month to live here. It's a seedy dive that only the poorest of heroes would stay at.
Occupants A. Warren, the owner, and his obese wife Margery run the place with one or two staff to clean up sick about once a week.
Secrets The giant rats that live in the garbage and in the walls aren't particularly brave but will attack if hungry enough. Here's a few stats if you feel like making the posse squirm: Quickness 3d8, Strength 1d4, Vigor 3d6, Brawlin' 3d6, Sneak 5d6, Overawe 3d6, Pace 16, Size 3, terror 3, BITE=Str If bitten, a target must pass a Vigor (9) check or contract a minor disease equivelent to the Ailin (1) hindrance for a few weeks!
Also serves as the City Jail. At least three deputies are on duty at all times to guard the folk locked away here. 2 more patrol the city in steamwagons and a second vehicle is parked outside and is run by Deputy Adams. Both steamwagons are heavily armed and armoured.
Occupants Sheriff Eli Waters can usually be found here. He's as stylish as Bat Masterson and as tough as Wyatt Earp. He helps the posse out as much as possible
Secrets Deputy Adams is a Danite, a member of Brigham Young's secret Mormon enforcers. This won't really affect the adventure though.
Don't forget that the City O Gloom is home to the main Smith & Robards scientific gizmo outlet. Any item can be ordered by the posse from here and standrad gizmos will arrive within a few hours. More individual and unique items will take a few days though.
A Junkyard Saloon that's so called due to a steam pipe that burst and filled the whole damned place with steam. Visibility is limited to about 10 yards and the air is hot and moist with steam at all times. This is one of the hot-spots around Junkyard and the beer is fair to average.
Occupants Edgar Maybrick, proprietor. There's also several gamblers and drunkards in here enjoying the atmosphere.
