Dungeon of the Dancing Daggers
So named because on one floor of the dungeon is a room where several daggers move rhythmically in the air. Why do the daggers "dance?" It's your call:
- A column of light surrounds the daggers. If a button on the wall is pressed, the light turns off. The daggers fall to the ground.
- A column of light surrounds the daggers. If a button on the wall is pressed, nothing seems to happen. If pressed again, a pit opens beneath the button (and presumably the button-pusher).
- A column of light surrounds the daggers. If a button on the wall is pressed, the light (20' radius) moves. Anything (or anyone) within the beam "dances."
- A column of light surrounds the daggers. A Darkness spell must be cast to negate it; if cast, the daggers fall to the ground.
- A column of light surrounds the daggers. If the light is removed, the daggers fall to the ground, then combine to create a dancing sword.
- A column of light surrounds the daggers. If the light is removed, the daggers fall to the ground, then combine to create a malevolent dancing sword which will attack the closest character.
- A column of light surrounds the daggers. If the light is removed, the cursed, malevolent daggers (released from their prison) will attack the closest character, coordinating their strikes so some will hit on the side and from behind.
- The swirling daggers have the same effect as a permanent Blade Barrier spell. They surround and defend an invisible jewel in the center of the room.
- The daggers are an illusion. Characters are surprised and surrounded by monsters entering from secret doors in the room.
- A powerful pionic (human or otherwise) is using them to practice telekinesis.
- A special "Magic Mouth" on one wall is singing. All the characters' weapons are pulled to the center of the room to "dance." This protects the inhabitants in the room next door.
- A column of light surrounds the daggers. Upon entering the room, all nonmagical daggers carried by the characters fly into the column of light.
- The daggers swirl within a wall of light, which stretches from edge to edge in the middle of the room. The wall is protecting a person/creature on the other side from thrown objects.
