The Year 9 Residential Trip to Beam House, Devon

In year 9 the school has set up an annual residential trip to a PGL Center in Devon called Beam House. This is a 5 day trip that unlike the normandy visit in year 8, is completly involved with physical activities (i.e. All fun and no work). It is meant as a trip to help friendships develop in their new groups (In year 9 the pupils are divided into new senior school houses) and therefore the trip is run in the first two months of year 9. It is also a good way for their form tutors (most of whom try to go on the trip) to get to know their new form. All in all the trip is all about development with pupils going as boys and coming back as (dirty) young men! Beacuse what you can't tell from these pictures is exactly how muddy things can get, so it is best advised to take OLD clothes with you as most of they may only be fit for the rubbish afterwards! THAT'S how muddy it can get! But getting muddy is half of the fun of going as most people who have been on the trip will tell you! It just adds to the fun!

The Main Dorms that were home to us for the 5 day trip

The wall is a favourite with most, with some sports teachers (remaining nameless) from the trip before this one unable to reach the top, and being shown up by the children in their group!

And everyone enjoyed the big drop down, but not as much as the...

ABSAILING! Theres something about being in control of your own destiny that *EVERY ONE* enjoys!

The dreaded ropes course, where even the hardiest of RS teachers get scared!

Someone enjoyed the mud then!

And it doesn't look like he was the only one!

And Mr Osbourne always likes to join in the fun!

And at the end of the week we had some world class archers and...

Some well trained marksmen!

This is the view that you can expect if you are about to descend the ZIP WIRE!

And of course being by the sea means that we got a chance to try the local surf! However in September, the Devon sea is no particularly warm, infact it was FREEZING!

And we all got the chance to drive the centres very own quad bikes, which was one of the weeks top attractions for some!

And at the end of the whole ordeal everyone likes to let their hair down and get involved in the talent contest!
