BIOLOGY - A LEVEL |
a | INDUCTION |
At the start of the course and at other timely intervals during the course students will be talked through the syllabus requirements and the assessment criteria and introduced to the working practices recommended by the Board. The focus will be on creative and intellectual development, building confidence, encouraging diversity and providing opportunities for specialist study in the art room environment and beyond. Students will be supported throughout by regular seminars in which diagnostic assessment will provide opportunities to and plan strategies for future development. There will also be opportunities to visit galleries both at home and abroad. |
a | SKILLS REQUIRED, SYLLABUS & METHODS OF ASSESSMENT |
The substance of the teaching programme reflects the contribution of Fine Art in its most wide ranging sense and of its fundamental importance to design-based disciplines. |
|
The London A Level Art syllabus should provide an enjoyable course for those pupils who have successfully concluded the subject at GCSE Level with a Grade C pass or above. This does not preclude, however, pupils who were, for one reason or another, unable to pursue Art as one of their GCSE options. Pupils in this category may be admitted, subject to the presentation of a Portfolio, which reflects a sustained personal interest during the intervening period. One might reasonably expect to see evidence of this sustained interest in the form of sketch books, paintings, etc., to form the basis of assessment. |
|
Students are expected to involve themselves in the various extra curricular activities and to demonstrate a willingness to commit themselves to at least one evening session per week at School. |
|
The ULEAC A Level syllabus requires candidates to produce coursework in the form of assignments for which deadlines are set and targets implemented at an early stage. Besides coursework there is a Critical Study which forms the theoretical basis for much of the practical work, culminating in the preparatory supporting development and research studies to augment the externally set paper at the end of the course.. |
