PHYSICAL EDUCATION MEG
The syllabus is constructed in line with the requirements and terminology of the National Curriculum order for Physical Education. The syllabus offers candidates an opportunity to foster enjoyment of physical activity and to enable candidates to develop an understanding of effective and safe physical performance. The course involves the theory and practice of physical education.

The question paper assesses candidates knowledge and understanding in PE.
Candidates are also required to demonstrate skills of description, interpretation and evaluation. The question paper is divided into two sections and lasts for 2 hours.

Unit 2 Health, Safety and Training
Unit 3 Reasons and Opportunities for participation in Physical Activity
Section B (30%)
Three structured questions and differentiated questions, one on each unit.

Each candidate selects four activities to be assessed by continual appraisal during practical lessons. (60% of total marks)

Candidates must choose four activities from a minimum of 3 of the 4 categories. Other specialist activities e.g. Golf, may be available but not taught at school.
The course involves two periods of theory each week as well as two periods of practical work. Grades available are G - A*
NOTE.
The student must have good practical skills showing competencies in at least two activities from Categories 1 - 4 . The Head of Department reserves the right to prevent students joining the Option should they not have the necessary practical skills.
