Well now.... having finally come to the realization that this site's existence no longer serves a purpose, this will be my final update of the RPG Alliance. While I could write a book on what all we've done, I hardly think that will be neccessary at this point. Time has moved on, and the events that the RPGA withstood over the years are now nothing but memories in the minds of those who were a part of them, mixed in with a few stray records here and there. They should remain as such. If you care to see the various designs of the site over the years, I've linked to them at the bottom. I removed the links in each page, but the text is still in it's unaltered form. Words through the eyes of a 12 year old are certainly interpreted much differently than those through the eyes of a 16 year old, and that's painfully obvious as the site moves on... So when you see whole sentences condenced into 5 abbriviations and witten using more numbers than letters... well you know you all did the same thing once. :Ţ
Since I did keep plenty of records, I'll raddle off a few statistics you may find interesting....
The RPG Alliance was first formed sometime between late August and early November of 1997... I don't have a damn clue of the exact date anymore. It was formed on Nintendo's Loudhouse forums, later to become NSider. The LH became NSider on Thanksgiving of 1997, whatever day that was... The RPGA website was officially opened January 3rd, 1998. Our mb, the I-Net Café, was originally created at Inside the Web (rip) on January 11th, 1998. Our chatroom was created through ParaChat on January 16th, 1998. The RPGA officially left NSider when the boycott began and Area 64 was opened, on Febuary 4th, 1998. On March 21st, 1998 the the I-Net Café was moved from ItW to Delphi, where it still remains. In October 1998, the RPGA was put on hold for lack of member participation. Work on the RPGA's failed attempt to resurrect the group; an ORPG called 'Fate of Nations', began on or around 8/16/99. It was officially opened on 11/1/99. When it colapsed the RPGA pretty much ended. The group picked back up a bit in May 2000, and on 6/16/00 the RPGA Arena was launched... imo, the group's finest moment. The Arena was closed two months later due to lack of participation. In early September 2000 the original I-Net Café mb, along with all other ItW messageboards, was shut down. Now, on August 17th 2001, the group which ended well over a year ago has officially been closed.
Over these four years the RPGA has had 125 registered members. Everyone played some role in the group, be it big or small. Elven, Magus, Neo, N64, Wasp, Frack, Fire, CK, Xaq, Matt, Geno, Ramuh, Warrio, Kain, and a load of other people... You all made this place what it was. Regardless of whatever the site looked or what was going on, it was the people involved that kept it alive, at least for the short time it lasted.
