Where to begin...
McGwire and Sosa. Two names
forever entwined in baseball history as the players that broke the most
sacred record in baseball. All I can say is congrats, to both
players. But what really made this journey magical? Was
it McGwire, and his soft side? Or Sosa's charisma, and unexpectedness
of going after the record? Both players deserve to share the
record, as Mr. McGwire said. McGwire most likely would
not have gotten the record without Sosa. Sosa would not have gotten
the record without McGwire. Sosa's pushing McGwire, raised
McGwire to a new level. Sosa's charisma made McGwire realize
he CAN have fun and still pursue Maris. McGwire's taking of the spotlight,
unwillingly, permitted Sosa to thrive. If they didn't do it together
neither would have, because the media attention would have crushed one
man. One other thing, Maris was never a power
hitter, he just got lucky that one year. So consider that before
you say that Sosa does not deserve his share of the title.
OHH The shame. The pity.
The, the losses, they keep mounting. The Iggles. They
don't deserve that title. The Eaglets. That's better.
They might just do what people said is impossible, 0 and 16.
Maybe we will beat Arizona in Philly. Maybe Ray might kill himself
before the last game in order to not be associated with the NFL's only
0 and 16 team, of all time. They just don't look like they have the
will to win. The QB is learning. The RB's are not that bad.
The WR's are old and slowing but still not awful. The TE's can't
catch, and those that can catch can't block. The LB corps is
fast and young. The Safeties are hard hitting, good cover guys, with
speed. The CB's are all injured. The Special Teams are
doing good for the first time since (yeck) Kotite. The Defensive
Line, well, If you can't say anything nice then, trash'em.
Pass Rush, sucks. The oppositions QB has enough time to read a magazine
cover to cover EVERY pass play. The Run stuffers, a sorry bunch,
couldn't stop a crawling baby from getting 3 yards. The
only thing worse than the DL is the offensive line. Offensive is
not quite right. Wretched is more like it. The tackles have
not done bad. Thomas and Cooper look good. Mayberry has had
some moments. Miller and Beckles/Hegamen, well... Thank God
Everitt is coming back to replace Miller, huh? Of course if Everitt
does what he did last year, well, let's just feel sorry for the Hoying
family now at the loss of their son Bobby's demise behind the Eaglets Wretched
Line. Do they know what blitz's look
like? Will they ever slow down the blitz? Will we really be
0 and 16???
Fortunately Hockey is
soon upon us. The Flyers look vastly improved against everyone
else's scrubs. I wonder how they will look against the real deal.
We'll find out on October 9th. 15 days until we know
for sure.
Does anyone care that the NBA has a lockout going
on??????
