Walkthrough
Pallet and Route 1&2
You start out in the small town of Pallet in the upstairs of your house. Walk to your left and go to the computer, withdrawing the Potion that is stored inside. After you do this, go downstairs and out the door. Head North and go into the grasses. Before you get there Prof. Oak will stop you and take you to his Pokemon Lab. He will offer you a Pokemon to start with: Charmander,Bulbasaur, or Squirtle. His grandson Gary will pick the Pokemon that has the advantage over yours. You will then have to battle Gary, keep using tackle or scratch and you are almost assured a victory. After this, Prof. Oak will send you to the next town to get an order. Leave the house and go out of town the way you tried to before. Continue up the route, you will probably run into some Pidgey and Rattatta. After you reach the next town go to the Pokecenter in front of you and heal your Pokemon, then head to the Pokemart. The man at the desk will give you the prof's order. Head back down to Pallet and to Prof. Oak's lab, he will take the package and give you a Pokedex to help catalogue the species of Pokemon. After this, go to the house right behind the Lab and get the map. Then, head out of town again and back to the next town. Go to the Pokecenter and then to the Pokemart to stock up on antidotes and pokeballs. Then, head West out of that town(secret)and keep going until you see some grass, look around in there until a Nidoran pops up. You may get lucky and find both sex's of Nidoran there. After this head back to town, heal yourself, you might want to go toward Pallet and catch yourself a Pidgey and Rattatta though. After you are finnished head North, up into Route 2 and then the Viridian Forest.
Viridin Forest
There are a lot of trainers, but they all have bugs, use Pokemon that you want up in levels against their Kakunas or Metapods. You want to make sure to catch every kind of Pokemon you can here, weedle is really common in red, and caterpie in blue. Be sure to catch a Pikachu, especially if you started with a Charmander. Before you leave the Viridian Forest, look around for the three hidden items: Potion, Antidote, and a Pokeball. After this, head out of the forest and up to Pewter City.
Pewter City
You may not leave Pewter City until you beat the gym leader, Brock. Brock is a rock trainer, to beat him your best bet is Squirtle's watergun, or(my personal favorite) Bulbasaur's vine whip. Carmander's ember attack will do some damage too. If you defeat Brock he will give you a Boulder Badge that will boost your Pokemon's technical power. He will also give you a TM34(Technical Machine), which contains "Bide".
Route 3
After defeating Brock head East out of town, there are a lot of trainers that way, but they aren't that bad, and the Pokemon Center is just back in town if you need it. After you beat all the trainers you will come upon a grass patch, search around, you may get lucky and find a Jigglypuff. After this head on and you will eventually come to a Pokemon Center. After healing yourself you must go through Mt. Moon. I would suggest that if you have no Pokemon over Lv. 25, to stick around and train a bit because you are literaly swarmed with Zubats down in the caves.
Mt. Moon
After entering Mt. Moon you will probably be met by swarms of Zubat. Don't worry though, if you have a Pikachu or a Charmander you will be just fine. A lot of other Pokemon will help to. Anyway, after entering go to your left and up to get a potion. The head back and get the Tm12 just under the potion. After this go to your left. You will soon come to a ladder, don't go down it. Go straight down from the ladder and get another potion.after this go left, and you will get a rare candy and an escape rope. Now you may go down the ladder. After this proceed to another ladder at the end of the tunnel you entered. You are now in a room with Team Rocket. Here you can grab a Hp Up. After this leave and go back to the origional ladder. After you are back where you went down the first ladder, go left and up then left again. You will come to another ladder, go down it and you will be in another tunnel. Follow the tunnel and go down the second ladder. In this room you can receive a Tm 01. After this you can see a stone to your left. Go to it and press "A". You will get an Ether. Go back down the tunnel to the first ladder. Then head down and then left. In this room there is a ladder, but grab the Moon Stone first. After going down the ladder proceed down the tunnel to the next ladder and go down. Now go up, down the stairs, up the stairs and keep going. Watch out for a Clefairy. They are hard to find and I recommend sticking around until you get one. After going down the long road you will be able to get a fossil which you can later resurrect into an ancient pokemon. After this leave the Caves.
Route 4
After beating Mt. Moon you reach Route 4. Head right and through a gap in the rocks. Head right and then go up. Then go left and up, you will find a Tm04. After this keep right and jump down into the field of grass. From here you can proceed right to Cerulean city.
Cerulean City
In this town go all the way right and down. In a building there will be a trading post where a man will trade you for a Jynx if you give him a Poliwhirl. Also in this town is a Gym. The gym leader is Misty and uses water Pokemon. To beat here your best bet is an electric or grass type Pokemon. If you chose Charmander, you will be alright if you have some higher level grass or electric Pokemon. If you are not strong enough yet and would like to train some more you can head up onto route 24. If you are ready to battle Misty, she starts out with a Staryu and has a Starmie for backup. If you win you will receive the Cascade Badge and Tm11, Bulbeam.
Route 24
After beating Misty head up to Route 24. You will have to fight Gary first, and then you will have to cross a bridge. The bridge is filled with Team Rocket members. If you beat them all you will receive a nugget. After this there is some grass. If you keep going up and left you will eventually find a TM45. After this head East. Here there will be a lot of trainers. You will notice an object to pick up here, but you can't until you get the Hm that contains Cut. After you beat all the trainers keep going East until you reach Bill's house. Go inside and talk to the Pokemon on the floor. It is really Bill. Go over to the computer and help Bill out. He will give you some SS Anne tickets if you talk to him. Leave the house and then go back in and access his computer. He will add 4 pages you’re your Pokedex by telling you about Eevee and it's evolutions. After this head down the little bridge in front of the house and then left and back to Cerulean city. You will notice that the Police Officer in front of the house that was robbed has moved as you come into town. Go into the house and out the back door. A Team Rocket member fights you. You will get a TM containing Dig. Go right and down. Jump over the rocks,(stay right) and go down to Route 5.
