Bulbasaur: A grass type Pokemon. Evolves into Ivysaur and then into Venasaur. First attack is tackle, one of it's best attacks is razor leaf, vine whip and sometimes leech seed. Ash has a Bulbasaur, it tried to evolve but didn't. It evolves at L. 32 into Venasaur

Charmander: Charmander is a fire type Pokemon. Ash has a Charizard that evolved from a Charmander. Charmander evolved into Charmeleon after defeating bunches of Exeguttor and then evolved into a Charizard when an Aerodactyle attacked Ash. Charmander has a lot of good attacks including fire spin, and flamethrower. It evolves at level 36 into Charizard.

Squirtle: Squirtle is water type. It evolves into Wartortle and then into Blastoise. Ash has a Squirtle. Ash got Squirtle from a renegade band of Squirtle called the "Squirtle Squad". Squirtle has good attacks such as bubblebeam and hydropump.

Caterpie: Bug Type. Ash had a Caterpie and caught it in the 3^rd episode. It evolved into a Metapod after fighting team Rocket, and then into a Butterfree in the 4^th episode. Ash no longer has Butterfree, he let it go to mate.

Metapod: Bug type. Evolves from Caterpie and then into Butterfree. It's only attack is Harden, but if it is evolved from Caterpie it then has Poison Sting and String Shot.

Weedle: Bug type. Evolves into Kakuna and then to Beedrill. It starts with Poison Sting and String Shot. Weedle is most found in the Red version, as Caterpie is in the blue. Beedrill has a couple of good attacks, like twin needle.

Kakuna: See Caterpie, are almost identical only this evolves from Weedle and then to a Beedrill.

Pidgey: Pidgey is a bird Pokemon. Ash never had a Pidgey, but instead had a Pidgeotto which he caught in the 3^rd episode. Pidgey evolves into Pidgeotto which then evolves into Pidgeot. Pidgey is a weaker pokemon but it's wing attack is pretty good.

Rattatta: Rattatta is a ground type. Ash does not have a Rattatta, but has encountered one in the first episode, and has encountered a Raticate on the St. Anne cruiser. One of rattatta's most powerful attacks is Hyper Fang and Quick Attack.

Spearow: Spearow is a bird Pokemon. Ash has encountered a Spearow, in the first episode. He thought it was a Pidgey and threw a rock at it, and then a flock of Spearow chased himself and Pikachu. Ash has run into a Fearow in the Pokemon Movie, it is flying overhead with a video camera around it’s neck. Spearow's first attack is peck.

Ekans: Ekans is a ground type Pokemon. Ash has encountered an Ekans and an Arbok. Team rocket had an ekans but it evolved during the Diglett episode. Ekans is "snake" spelled backwards and Arbok is "Kobra". On of it's attacks is bite and wrap.

Pikachu: Pikachu is an electric Pokemon. Ash has a Pikachu and it was his first Pokemon. Pikachu had the chance to evolve but it didn't. Pikachu was knocked out by Bellsprout in the Pokemon League games. Pikachu evolves into Raichu

Sandshrew: Sandshrew is a ground type Pokemon. It evolves into a Sandslash. The gym leader A.J has a Sandshrew. It's first attack is scratch. Ash has encountered a Sandslash when he went to see Bruno, one of the Elite Four. Bruno pulled a Sandslash out of an Onix's back.

Nidoran(f): Nidoran(f) is a ground type. Nidoran evolves into Nidorina and then into Nidoqueen. One of it's attacks is tackle and bite.

Nidoran(M): Nidoran(M) is a ground type. It evolves into Nidorino and then into Nidoking, one of it's attacks is horn attack and tackle.
