This is just a reminder, a refresher and a mini-update.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Nouveau PBEM
The Ten Commandments of Nouveau PBEM
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Thou shalt mark all messages pertaining to Nouveau PBEM with the proper heading
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Proper headings are: [NPBEM] For all NPBEM related messages (this is
so I can filter out all the [NPBEM]
messages from everything else.
" " [OOC] For messages CLEARLY meant to be out of
character.
" " [ADMIN] For messages meant to be related to GM
stuff.
" " [Private] For message that contain information
to which no other players should have
access (still the lurkers, of course).
Example: To: perrylloyd@hotmail.com
From: the_man@them.org
Subj: [NPBEM][OOC] We've come to talk about your game...
Also note that [ADMIN] is always assumed to be OOC and that any message without OOC is assumed to be IC (in character)
--------------------------------------
Thou shalt send all messages to the GM
--------------------------------------
All In Character interaction must be shared with the GM. I HAVE to be made aware of stuff thats going on in the game world. My personal e-mail is: perrylloyd@hotmail.com if you want to e-mail me [Private] and not post to the entire egroup.
Other than that, just send all messages to nbpem@egroups.com
------------------------
Thou shalt not cast dice
------------------------
All dice rolls will be made by me, the GM.
I do have a few "house rules". One, whenever Essence is spent on a roll, I am MUCH MUCH more likely to ignore a bad roll and re-roll it. Also, I will over-rule my dice in favour of your character's survival and the flow of the story. I reserve the right to lie about the dice to make things work as I see fit.
-------------------------------------
Thou shalt write for minor characters
-------------------------------------
If you and I talk about the typical behavior, demeanor, and disposition of an NPC, such that you can role-play him for a brief time, or at least guess what he'd say, feel free to write in what he'd say and do. This is particularly suitable for those of you who have already designed (or have ideas in your head about) NPCs who will be present in the game world.
------------------------------------------------
Thou shalt not write for other player characters
------------------------------------------------
However, the NPC writing priviledge DOES NOT apply to other Player Characters. Only the player (or I, in dire causes) may write for his or her character.
-------------------------------------------
Thou shalt do cool things with your Essence
-------------------------------------------
Essence may be spent on ANY action so far as I'm concerned. With any action, you may spend Essence to increase the likelihood of success, to boost speed, will, perception, to add to a skill, to a CD, to the damage done by a weapon, to give you a burst of speed when running from danger, to make that leap to the next building. You can spend Essence to ease your fall or nudge the dice in a game of craps into your favor, to beg mercy from the Powers that Be...
Of course, know that other celestial beings can sense this use of Essence, as can Soldiers, Ethereals and Creatures of Myth...
Essence will be rewarded for stuff which I view to be excellent. Good
story writing, good role-playing and anything which would please your Superior.
----------------------------------------
Thou shalt question the GM within reason
----------------------------------------
Please, please question me. Remain open about questions and problems throughout the game, any question my judgement whenever necessary. :)
-----------------------------------------------
Thou shalt keep me up to date on your character
-----------------------------------------------
Is your character concept changing? Lemme know what's going on.
----------------------
Thou shalt communicate
----------------------
Keep us informed. Going to get married and need to take a few days off all of the sudden? Having a second child, maybe? (grin) Let us know. :)
------------------------------
Thou shalt ROLEPLAY!!! Dammit.
------------------------------
Give us something to remember, here!! Moving dialogue, in character drama, eloquent descriptions, good writing here people.

Ruls for Mortals
----------------
Well, I've noticed that humans really get the short end of the stick in this game, at least mechanics-wise. I'm still trying to fix things so that it's more balanced. At the moment my big beef is Perception, namely noticing things in the environment.
So far as I can tell, more normal humans would have a Corp 2, Ethe 2, Cele 1 Forces spread, since most people just aren't all that aware of the mystical side of reality (things like energy work, seeing ghosts, etc.), and I'm talking about real-life here.
The CPG (Corporeal Players Guide) deals with this some, what with Free Skills, Routine Actions, Simplified Skill Resolution, Specialization and Mastery. However, the topic of low characteristics isn't covered at all (or I've just missed it, in which case someone PLEASE inform me). So, I've decided that in the case of noticing things, like everyday, normals things, humans will have a basic bonus of +4 to their perception roll. Just FYI. And yes, that goes for Saints, Undead, and Sorcerors. However, this +4 will NOT be applied to rolls to notice Disturbances to the Symphony.
