Attack Pattern: They wander back in forth in confined areas and wait to be stomped! If they get stomped, they will lie in a pile of bones on the floor for a few seconds; when they start shaking that means they are about to come back to life.
Basic Fighting Strategies: Just stomp these guys and run away. Fire and tail attacks are useless, but a Invincibility (from a Starman) or Hammers will kill them. You can get lots of points for using hammers, if you can find a suit!
Advanced Strategies: In one of the fortresses in World 2 there is a place with three Dry Bones that you can stomp over and over again without touching the floor: this will eventually earn you extra lives, but you must have a Racoon Tail or Tanuki Suit on, and it is not easy!

Attack Pattern: They attack similarly to the ones in Super Mario Bros. 3.
Basic Fighting Strategies: You can stomp them and continue on, or use a spinning cape attack to kill them! It's not easy, but it will defeat them completely.
Advanced Strategies: To get extra points, stomp them first and then use the cape attack. This is also easier to do than using the cape attack while they're moving around.

Attack Pattern: On the map, they wander around aimlessly, and they will collapse into a pile of bones if you beat them. Watch out, or the ones on the map will come back, just like in other games! In battle, they will use regular attacks as well as an attack where they throw a bone at you from a distance and an attack where they come up close and toss their skull at you!
Basic Fighting Strategies: They cannot be beaten with regular attacks. Take these guys on early, and try to avoid them on the map if possible, since they can come back. Any special attack (even Sleepy Time!) as well as certain items will kill a Dry Bones instantly in Super Mario RPG.
Advanced Strategies: Specifically, Yoshi Cookies and Pure Water will beat Dry Bones. It is probably best not to waste your Yoshi Cookies on these guys, but you will often get Pure Water for beating them, so it may be OK to use this. Otherwise just use special attacks like Mallow's Thunderbolt attack. This attack can kill all of the Dry Bones at once and only uses 2 Flower Points.
When a Dry Bones throws a bone at you, press A just as the bone makes contact to block it. If it runs up to you and tosses it's skull at you, try to press A just when the skull is about to return to it's body.
