Marlena came to visit John in
his Aremid Jail cell, 1995.
Drake couldn't remember his
lines and started mumbling. It went like this:
Drake: "He will be suspicious
of you".
Deidre: "But he wasn't".
Drake: "He IS suspicious of
everybody. This is how he is suaposddsadfjdk"
They both started laughing and
then Deidre laughed at him and said:
"They will never notice it".
In one scene John was supposed to talk to Abe and then to see Kristen across the room and run after her. While shooting the scene John saw Kristen, excused himself to Abe and run after her. Only, he didn't make it. He fell on his butt on the way to her and they all laughed. Eillien (Kristen) said: "It happens to me all the time".
During the Aremid storyline, Kristen was supposed to visit John is Jail, undress in front of him and then open the Jail cell with a set of keys and make love to him. Only the actress couldn't handle the keys. She undressed and spoke in a sexy tune but couldn't open the door time after time after time after time.
In one Scene Marlena, Mike, Carrie
and Austin were suppose to have a talk in the hospital. It was something
about a memory lose, only the actors themselves had a problem remembering
their lines. It went like this:
Deidre (Marlena): "No, that
can shock her into forgetting everything she remembered so far".
Christie (Carrie): "She won't
remember anything, not of the past four years".
At this point no one remembers
his lines. They didn't even know who was supposed to talk next so they
all kept silent for a few moments, trying to stay serious. After a few
laughs from the crew, the actors couldn't help it and started laughing
as well.
In this scene Marlena and John are talking to each other. Deidre is supposed to say: "Yes, seems like every time I turn around I bump into Vivian". Instead she said: "Yes, seems like every turn I time around I bump into Vivian". Drake laughed and Deidre started laughing saying to him: "Oh Drake, take us out of here".
During the devil storyline Marlena
was tied to her bed. Abe, John, Kristen and Mike were supposed to run into
the room. Deidre's line was: "Abe, Oh thank heaven you are here". Only
while shooting the scene Deidre remembered that the devil will never say
"Thank heaven". It went like this:
Deidre (MarDevil): "Abe, Oh
thank heaven you are here. Oh, I can't say thank heaven, I am sorry". She
started laughing and the rest of the actors joined her.
Once again in the devil story
line. Marlena tried to seduce John in her apartment. Drake was supposed
to say: "I am talking about what's best for us". It was so funny when he
said: "I am talking about what's breasts of us".
He didn't even notice what he
just said until Deidre started laughing hysterically.
In this scene Marlena was supposed to talk to her friend, Eugene, who was in Jail, when a glass is between them. During the reading of the scene they didn't have a glass between them, so in the actual scene Deidre was surprised by it. She spoke to him and then he leaned down and kissed the glass as if to kiss her. His face were twisted on the glass and Deidre couldn't stop herself from laughing.
John and Stephano were arguing
about something. Drake (John) was supposed so say: "Come on, Dimera" but
instead he said: "Come on, Damira".
Joseph (Stephano) started laughing
and said: "Damira????"
Drake laughed and answer: "Yes,
DAMIRA !!!!"
When Marlena and Roman first
met in 1982 they had a lot of cute fresh kissing scenes but one was very
funny. Deidre (Marlena) was supposed to cry and kiss Wayne (Roman) only
the actress suddenly had the hiccups in the middle of the kiss. The two
actors started laughing but didn't gave up on the scene. She wanted to
save the situation and said: "I always have the hiccups when I cry". He
laughed and kept kissing her but she couldn't stop having those hiccups.
They went on with the scene, saying all the right lines and laughing all
in between. He couldn't stop laughing and she even told him at one point:
"It's not funny" and started laughing herself. In the end, the scene was
filmed and was aired like this so the viewers could have seen her when
she has the hiccups. It was a very funny scene.
In this 1992 scene Marlena was dumped into a pit by Stella Lombard and was left there for a few weeks. Stella wanted Marlena to die there and she was about to give her her last meal. The meal was supposed to come down to Marlena very slowly, only the actress played Stella dumped the basket and it fell next to Deidre and made her jump. When is happened the second time, Deidre tried not to laugh but the crew kept on laughing and at the end she started laughing so hard she had tears in her eyes.
During the Devil storyline Drake and another actor who played one of the three scholars that came to help Marlena were supposed to talk. The scholar was supposed to say: "He was attacked in the park by a panther" but he really said: "He was stabbed in the park by a panther". Drake put his hands around him and asked "Stabbed?". Both of the actors started laughing.
In this scene Isabella was about
to give birth to Brady. John who was beside her was worried and asked to
call an ambulance. Drake was supposed to say at one point the words: "run
interference" but what he really said was -
"run intercourse". And
I am asking you - what did the guy have in mind?
Stella Lombard was dying in her hospital bed, her son was beside her. When the monitor showed a flat line he was supposed to cry for help and Marlena was supposed to come and try to help the dying women, only Deidre (Marlena) decided to make a joke on the actress. When the actor cried for help she rushed into the room, shook Stella up and screamed: "Not Yet, I need your turkey recipe, your turkey recipe. Don't go! Don't go!". You could only imagine the hysterical laughs from the actors and crew.
Roman and Marlena were supposed to have a love scene. She wore a night gown standing in her room and he was supposed to come into the room, hold her and kiss her, only Wayne (Roman) decided to make a joke on Deidre (Marlena) so he came into the room with lots of toilet paper coming out from the back of his pants. Of course, Deidre couldn't see it just yet because she was with her back to him. Even when she finally turned around and kissed him she didn't notice it and the crew was laughing hysterically. She was so much into the scene but after a few moments she couldn't help it anymore and asked Wayne: "Are you doing something? Why is the crew laughing?". So he turned around, she saw the toilet paper and was almost rolling on the floor out of laughter.
This Blooper was not funny at all. During the Devil storyline at some point Marlena was supposed to be "dead", lying on a table in the morgue. John came to visit her a few times, opened the door of the refrigerator, pooled the table and talked to her. While shooting one of those scenes, the table collapsed on the floor and Deidre fell with it. Fortunately, Drake caught her in time so nothing too serious happened but she still did hurt her back and could hardly move for weeks. She tried to keep working for about a week later but the pains were too much and she had to take three weeks to recover. This is why she wasn't on at all for about three weeks after the Devil storyline was over.
Drake (John) decided to play
a joke on Deidre (Marlena) and Jensen (Eric) so when the actor first joined
the set he took him aside and told him that if he really wanted to impress
Deidre, he would say something like "I really like working with you guys"
or "You guys are really nice". Jensen, unaware that "you guys" is Dee's
least favorite expression and to which she always replies: "First of all,
I am not a guy" fell for it. They all had a laugh about it, but what
was even funnier was when Drake also told Jensen that she loves people
who are really professional , so when he went into a scene with her for
the first time, he should take her by her shoulders and move her aside
saying: "Please, you are in my light". That will impress her with your
knowledge of the lights. What I wouldn't have given to see the expression
on her face with that one!
Fortunately, most people don't
know this, but she enjoys a good joke - even if it's on herself. And didn't
Jensen breathe easier when he found that out !
Last year on Deidre's birthday, Drake decided to play a Joke on her and act as if he didn't remember her birthday or couldn't care less. When the crew and actors kept sending flowers to her dressing room, he said nothing. She was very upset and tried to punish him by not speaking to him all day, only he kept trying to talk to her all day and she had to reply, almost laughing, waiting to see when she will be lucky enough to hear a "happy birthday" out of him. The rest of the crew were on the Joke and kept bringing her flowers. After half a day was over and Josh (Roman) sent her flowers in front of Drake and he still said nothing, she made a list of people who told her happy birthday and hang in on her door for him to see. Of course, he came, saw and said nothing. At the end of the day, everybody was laughing so hard, trying to see who will fold first. Finally, Drake came in with lots of flowers and a special gift (Silk robes for her, her husband and her children. Her robe, by the way, was white and it had the words "La Duchess" written on it). She was touched and was relived to see that her pal didn't forget her birthday.
For John & Marlena's wedding
1999, two dolls in their image were created to place on the wedding cake.
The Marlena doll had the exact same dress as Marlena did. Mattel had sent
their only model of the doll with assurance that it would be returned in
perfect order the next day. All went well until "little Marlena" was having
her hair fixed and Deidre noticed frosting all over the back of the dress.
The actress looked at Nibble in horror as the color drained from her face.
She mumbled something about being called on stage, handed him the doll
and raced from the room. But it had a happy ending - At the taping of the
reception, the cake appeared right on cue, with a little Marlena immaculate.
They manage to make a new dress in two hours, using the parts that were
left of Marlena's dress. The original dress was rushed to the cleaners
and returned safely the day after.
Drake had a too close encounter
with a diver and her stun gun during the honeymoon shoot in Hawaii. It
happened while John was abducted in the deep blue see. They brought a woman
in because she was a professional diver, not an actress. She had an hypodermic
gun and when he swam to her she let him have it. She REALLY let him have
it. She placed the gun in a rather interesting spot. The incident was caught
on tape. They used an underwater camera to get the actual shoot in the
leg but when she fired the gun, it didn't hit his leg. It made him
jump. He was holding her around her neck at the time, and he could see
her face as she looked down through a mask in the water. All of a sudden
she realized what she'd done, pulled the gun out, and hit him in the thigh.
Poor Drake !!!
In one Scene Marlena was supposed to say: "The odds of that happening are absolutely Infinitesimal" but the last word was way to difficult for the actress to say. She tried so many times, making the crew laughing every single time, but couln'd say it. At the last shoot of the scene she just said: "The odds of that happening are absolutely slim".
On February 26th, 1999 Drake
and Deidre hosted the Soap Opera Awards Show. At the begining of the show
Drake welcomed all the guests and talked about the hotel in Las-Vegas.
He said about it: "Most people think that it's the perfect physical structure".
Oh, Deidre just had to say something
about that. She said: "They haven't seen you without your shirt on".
Boy, was he embarrassed. He
turned all red while the audience kept screaming from excitment. Deidre
looked at him as said: "I had to, I had to say it".
so he said: "It's not in her
script. She is already off her lines, we are in trouble now".
She laughed and the audience
kept on roarring.
Deidre talks about a crew joke: "The night that Roman volunteered to sleep in my adopted son's bed. We were shooting scenes across the stage from each other - during rehearsal, the prop man and I poured a bucket of warm water into the bed! He ran, jumped, hit the wet bed and hit the ground running after me! Unfortunately, I wasn't fast enough...and he threw me in full makeup into a shower!"
Deidre talks about a crew joke: "The most recent was Existing's fantasy of my funeral. We were all tense and unhappy about Eileen's final day at work, and during a taping mishap the casket lid smashed down on my head. It was frightening and upsetting and even more so because of our state of mind".
