Earlier this century, the Gray Wolf was almost extinct due to hunting. Before gaining portection, people were killing wolves left and right, for things like killing livestock, and so called attacks. Hunters would kill a wolf for looking at them fuuny. They were hunted to extinction in Europe, and were almost annhialated in North America as well. But, thanks to the government (Surprise!!) the Gray Wolf has gained protection, and anyone found hunting a wolf, or anyone who has killed one, can face up to 10 years in prison, and/or a $100,000.00 fine. Recently, people have been doing nothing but helping the Gray wolf, by adopting them, sponsoring Wolf Recovery Programs, and other things. Thankfully, the Gray Wolf has made an amazing comeback, and is currently flourishing in the northern States, Alaska, and some parts of Asia.
