Twinsen silently drew the Laser Pistol from his pocket and levelled it at the leader’s head. He called out commandingly,
"Nobody make a move or I shoot your leader."
"You wouldn’t dare, shoot our leader and I shoot your girlfriend and your little kid," one of the thugs called back. Twinsen froze, a chill running up his spine at the thought of the terrible deed. Thinking ahead he slowly put the gun down of the floor and took a step back.
"All right, what do you want?"
"You know. . . The Book of Bú."
"I don’t have it with me, you’ll have to trust me to go back and get it."
"I’m not that stupid, one of my men will go with you, make a false move and he will shoot you."
"I think the threat of you shooting my family is enough the make me obedient," pointed out the hero. Twinsen left the scene with one of the thugs, they took of in the speedboat the thugs had used to get there and were headed for the mainland. Twinsen smiled as he saw the light of the glowing crystal in his hand. He had managed to retrieve the Laser Pistol without the thugs noticing.
