(cue dramatic music)
Twinsen stole into the School’s grounds. The bats that were always flying had brought some friends out for the night-time. The hero tried to be quick to get inside. Through the next door he passed the message board. There was an unearthly silence. The dinner tables were laid out, but where there were normally some trainee wizard’s testing out invisibility there was nothing. Suddenly Twinsen heard a muffled ‘help’. He glanced across to the corner where his eyes beheld a strange site. All of the wizards and their master were gagged and tied up in the corner. Twinsen hurriedly released the prisoners of their own School and was about to continue searching when the nearest wizard pulled him back.
"Listen, the thugs you’re looking for have magical powers," the wizard explained in a anxious tone. "Apparently they were just looking around the Citadel Island museum in their spare time and they saw a fragment of stone with some strange writing on it. They spoke about it casually to their boss Dr. Funfrock Jr. He said that his father told him of this, that the strange writing could be translated with a ‘Book of Bú’. After asking around they discovered that you owned the Book of Bú. When they raided your house and took your family they were looking for the Book of Bú, but couldn’t find it. So they took your family as hostages to make you give it to them. One way or another they got their hands of the book and translated the writing on the stone, whilst it was still in the museum. On Dr. Funfrock’s orders they stole the stone from the museum. The translation talked of a spell to make people stupid, so you can give them orders. This appealed to Dr. Funfrock and he told them to look for the spell. They went to the Weatherwizard’s tent and found the spell. The Weatherwizard didn’t have enough ingredients though. So, they came here where all the things they needed were. They mixed the spell and now that enables them to make anyone their slave."
"I’ve got to go after them and stop them," said Twinsen. All the wizards voiced him to be careful and they would help whatever way they could. Twinsen moved slowly and silently up the last opening. He could hear the thugs talking. Twinsen took aim and threw a stone at one of the thugs. The leader of the thugs went over to see what was going on. The hero took a quick glance around the corner and saw Dr. Funfrock Jr. Unfortunately everyone else saw Twinsen and starting charging at him.
"You’ve lost Twinsen!" shouted Dr. Funfrock. Just then Zoe came hurtling through the door with Dr. Funfrock’s Sabre which she had brought from their house. She had armed herself with the ‘Blowtron’ that Twinsen had picked up on his second adventure.
"Zoe, what are you doing here?" questioned Twinsen.
"No time to explain, look," she replied. Zoe blew a couple of pellets in Funfrock’s direction. Twinsen spotted the glowing ring on Funfrock’s hand, he assumed that that must have been where the magic was directed from. Bravely Twinsen dived at Funfrock knocking him over. Not expecting Twinsen to go for his ring Funfrock left it in the clear. Twinsen grabbed at it and returned to Zoe’s side. He pointed the ring menacingly at the thugs and they stopped. . .
