Twinsen crept up the rich, green grass that covered the island, his tunic blowing gently in the light breeze. Pulling out the magical ball he held it ready, in a throwing stance as he moved slowly to the top where he could hear the thugs murmuring amongst themselves. He drew up behind a rock which was as close as he could get being safe. He scanned the scene. They were two thugs and the leader holding a whispered discussion and the third thug sitting some way off on his own holding a gun casually in his right hand, his eyes watching the waves bob up and down behind the captives. Twinsen closed one eye and drew the magic ball back. Taking careful aim he took a deep breath and threw his weapon at the thug holding his family at gun-point. His shot was calculated to perfection. The glowing ball struck the right hand of the thug clean on, knocking the pistol into the water before the recipient knew what was going on. The ball sliced threw the air like a boomerang as it turn around and headed back to Twinsen hand. Trying hard not to laugh out load at the thugs dismay he crouched down behind large rock.
"Sir, something just hit me and knocked my gun into the water."
"What! You fool, if something hit you I’d have noticed, you dropped it in your clumsiness you blundering idiot!" The leader’s shouts echoed around the rocks. Zoe’s eyes lit up as it dawned on her as to what had happened. Twinsen, feeling happy with himself, and oh so close the getting his family back lost his head for a split second. He sprang off the rock with one foot and smashed the leader in the head with the other. He punched away madly at one of the thugs until the leader realised what was happening a shot a bullet into the air, breaking up the commotion. Twinsen turned around slowly with his hands in the air.
"The Book of Bú?" inquired the leader.
"Come and get it you filthy scum!" hurled back Twinsen followed by a big blob of saliva landing on the leader’s shoe. The leader turned unhealthily reddish, but kept calm and just nodded to one of his men. They clubbed him round the back of the head again. Taking the book they wanted so badly they set off down to the rocks where their speedboat lay waiting.
