The Moves |
- There are 2 creatures in Oddworld that you just simply have to look at and appreciate for the briliant artwork and creativity. The Paramites are one of those creatures. 4 legs, 6 fingers (or are they arms?) and a mean attitude to boot.
- They scamper around the floors of Paramonia and quite often let out an annoying hiss.
- These buggers are quick and always keen to trap you.
- They work in pairs but are slightly cowardly on their own. But do not be fooled, they will attack if cornered. (Although this is revealed to you on a stone in the game, it is a little easier to see than the scrab secret).
- They jump very well, over the larger distances that Abe can jump, and they often like to prance along like a graceful gazelle. However, they are anything but graceful.
- To attack, they lunge or pounce when you are close. Their clawed fingers take a huge slice of your flesh - just like a Road Runner cartoon when Wile-E-Coyote accidentally gets shredded. (And just like him you always seem to come back for more).
- They are creatures that live in nests, mostly above ground. They will often jump down or lower themselves from webs, so always be on the lookout above you.
|
Communication |
- They hiss and swip at each other, and you.
- Their scampering sound can be heard as they approach. You should always listen out when walking around in their land.
- Like the other creatures, they don't like you annoying them and will often react when you chant nearby.

Surviving |
- By themselves they are harmless. They will mostly stay away from you. Walk towards them and they start moving off in the opposite direction.
- The paramites can run very fast but you can always outrun them. Just be sure to know exactly where you're heading and what obstacles you will encounter.
- Never hang from a ledge - they are good jumpers.
- If you see two paramites in the same area - run, hoist up onto a platform or throw meat. Don't stand there hoping they wont see you.
- One paramite will try and get you to follow it back to his other mate so they can both chomp on your flesh. Don't be tricked.
- When the paramites are lowering themselves, from their resting places above, they will not attack you until they have broken away from their web and are on the ground. You have a little bit of time - use it.
- Just like the slogs, these little buggers will follow you through low areas and tunnels - so don't try to lose them that way.
- Do not back one into a corner or onto an edge - they will attack.

Tips and Tricks |
- Always carry spare meat. They like the dead meat (and live meat too) so throw them as much as you can find, to get them off your heels.
- Two or more paramites will always prefer the dead meat to you - but be careful where you place it.
- Don't bother if you see one. It wont harm you except when cornered. Go about your business.
- To make a bolt for it, throw some meat to the floor, wait for them to run to it and then escape the area (or start off just as they are on their way towards it).
- They jump brilliantly so don't stand over the other side of gap, if it is a gap they can reach. However, they will lunge for you even if the gap is too big for them, so find those larger gaps and watch them plummit to their doom.
