Geography:
A small disc, Avalon is only thee miles in diameter. One side is made up of steep, short cliffs that reach a hundred yards skyward, and the rest of the land area is made up of rolling hills. At the shore of these cliffs lies a lake which makes up most of the surface area of the disc. By far the most visible feature of the disc is the great waterfall which flows into the middle of the lake. The waterfall comes not from the cliffside, but from the very disc above, Floatillia. The waterfall alone has drawn adventurers from around the world, but the greatest treasure on this disc is the small tomb which lies on the shore of the lake.
Artificial Structures:
The tomb is that of King Atruir, ruler of thirteen discs before the Great Battle. When the great ruler died, the tomb was build on this disc. The surface building itself is merely an entrance to a massive labrynth insie the disc, holding the bodies of Atruir's 1,000 most fathful soldiers. At the heart of this tomb, in the deepest chamber. The king's body lies, bathed in the unearthly glow of the Astral Well which hovers a span above the preserved remains.
Climate:
Avalon's climate is similar to Heartlands, but the dim warmth the Astral Well radiates throughout the disc prevents Lake Pendragon from freezing. Snow still falls on the disc when it should.
Politics:
Seeing as no one lives here, Avalon has no internal politics. However, there are several quarrels between other governments over who actually controls Avalon. The Heartlands believes Avalon falls under its jurisdiction, because King Atruir's palace is on Heartlands, and the King ruled from his throne on Heartlands. Floatillia believes that because its waters flow onto the disc, at least some of it should belong to Floatillia. Doranis, claiming that Avalon lies in its 'airspace' (Doranis' airspace extends 50 miles up from its surface), believes that Avalon is its responsibility. The governments have yet to come to an agreement. No one has visited Avalon since the Great Collapse, the only Ivory Gate on the disc having dissapeared.
Trade:
None
Zoology:
Unlike its human inhabitants, the animals of Avalon are very much alive. Most of the animals are birds, but one may find various rodents, foxes, skunks, raccons, deer and many other creatures. One special trait sets these animals apart from their counterparts on other discs, these animals can see into the Astral Plane. Scholars believe this is due to a lifetime spent is such close proximity to the Astral Well.
Botany:
There are no plants unique to Avalon. Avalon is sparcely forested by pines and firs.
