Geography:
Geographically, the Gemstones can be devided into three parts. Making up a semicircle at the rim is the Gemstone Mountains, towering a hundred miles above the disc. Opposing it is another semicircle of sea, the Beginning Ocean. In the middle lies the Arrexian Plains, filled with farmland and dotted with rivers and lakes. A small forest, Tara'Nes, lies at the base of the mountains.
Artificial Structures:
The mountains themselves are filled with the ruins of perhaps the greatest dwarven creation known to exist. Stretching from deep within the earth of the disc to seventy six miles up the mountain, the dwarven kingdoms of Sor'Bardin, Balov'Krax and Balov'Trin are a sight to behold. The aqueducts of Tral'Tucat and the Lava Mines of Sorbodeth make even gnomes weep at dwarven ingenuety, and the architecture at Feldspar Keep has been known to make an elf shed a tear. Now, these hallways lie dark, miles upon miles of history lit only by the torches of the golblins who now call this place home.
Climate:
The Gemstones remains warm from Spearflow to around the 5th week of workload. The weather is cold from the rest of Workload to the end of Iceflake. During this time of cold, snowfall is frequent.
Politics:
Arrex has since drawn inward since the Collapse, leaving the plains baronies to fend for themselves. With the dissapearance of N'Yltrin, Royal Vizier, Otholas Amaro has had the mantle placed on his shoulders and now councils the Lord James in privacy. Rimours are picking up about the vizier's true intentions.
Trade:
Arrex was once a thriving port town, and when the Gates closed, Arrex suffered. Still, it is a rich enough town to keep on going, and the city is doing well. While most sailors are now out of work, many have been hired as merchant guards. Brigands do troulble the occasional caravan, after all.
Zoology:
The gemstones are home to a few select breeds of fish, animals, and birds.
Torchfish live deep in the underground lakes of the Gemstones. They have the unique ability to generate a light from the tip of a growth on their head.
Basilisks have been reported to live in the forest of Tara'Nes by a few travellers. No sightings have been confirmed, and elves will not discuss the subject.
Botany:
Gemstones has almost nothing unique in the lines of plant life. In Tara'Nes, the flora is that if Asigaru. The only unique thing found are strange glowing lichen found in the depths of the mountains.
