Cassius Mayfield Bourne, in life was called Fu-li-w and was born at Ma-no, a town in the Mendi country, where his king, Ti-kba, resided (Aferica). He lived with his parents, and has five brothers. His town was surrounded by soldiers, some were killed, and he with the rest were taken prisoners. He passed through the Vai country, when taken to Lomboko, and was one month on the journey. Lomboko was a coastal fort in Africa where they kept the captured Africans until the arrival of the slave-ships

He was kept there 1 month, and then purchased by Luis, a Spaniard at Lomboko, and taken to America. Were he was then sold as a house slave to a wealthy tobacco farmer in Maryland.

At the age of 12, Fu-li-w was given the name Cassius Mayfield. Even though it was illegal, he was educated by the Mistress of the house Prudence Bourne, and became like a son to her. Over the next 17 years he took up the role of book-keeper to the master, and was much in favor with the merchants of the city and all who knew him; for he knew how to judge of the qualities of tobacco, and learned to chew and to smoke it.

When Prudence, died Cassius Mayfield, was left with an ailing master although it was never spoken in public, behind the scenes he ran everything on the plantation. The management of the sales, the slave trading et.

Mayfield fearing the death of his master began to seek out the magic of heritage, and bought up many slaves who had the 'gift' in an attempt to prolong the life of his white master and thus his position of power over the fields and plantations.

Over a period of about 5 years the Master lingered on the brink of death, Mayfield got a reputation as a man who would pay good coin for any charms or spells that would prolong his master's life. Attracting the interest of a vampire looking to add to his holdings.

Intrigued by Mayfield, the vampire Daniel Monfon, offered to prolong the life of the Master, and give him occult powers beyond his mortal dreams in exchange for a cut of the profits of the tobacco farm and the public knowledge that he owned it all.

Mayfair agreed as he was desperate and thus was embraced in the winter of 1866. He then ghouled His former White Master, and established a much firmer control on the holdings.

His true vamperic education thus begun, Mayfield learned about vampiric society and the use of his disciplines. Once his Ghouled "Master" reached an age were it was no longer fitting to have him around to preserve the masquerade and allow himself to meld into the background he had the "Master" designate a White heir and then stopped feeding the old ghoul. Who withered and died.

Mayfield powers of socery and his physical power, and good business sense allowed him to rise threw the ranks of the vampires. Although many of the elders were firmly against a black former slave in their midsts they could not deny his contributions to society.

Mayfield's research in the occult and into the halting of mortal deaths did not stop at his embrace however and as the years progressed he came into contact with vampires of more midwestern area. He then received an invitation to go to a meeting of 'other like minded' individuals.

Secure that his holdings would be kept by his designated 'heir' ghoul at the time, He arranged for transportation to the Mississippi area. Little did he know this was no social gathering of like minded individuals but a gathering of the Diciplines of Nekromonicon, and after an evaluation of what he learned and consulting with him in it, he was brought into their midsts.

Enchanced by what he had learned, he returned to his plantation and there offered his skills solely to the use of the Invictus. Who grumbling saw potential in his abilities and in his magical arts and brought him into the fold.

He retired mostly to his plantation, but his reputation and status spread amugst the other kindred not only for his magic but his shear physical intimidation. Overtime secure in his holdings and in his covenant status, and the changing times allowing him more freedom to move about, he has moved to Saint Louis to be closer to the others of his bloodline to increase his studies.
