Type 62 | |||||||||||||||||||
In use with the Army and Marines, the Type 62 is a scaled down version of the Type 59 MBT. Designed for use in the rugged marshes of southern China, the Type 62 can manuever where other tanks can't. This was particularly evident during the Sino-soviet Conflict where soviet T-62s became bogged down in a marsh, and their crews fled when Type 62 tanks were able to attack accross the soft earth. Main armament is a 85mm main gun, a Type 57T 7.62mm coaxial MG, and a 17.7mm Type 54 AAMG. Some Type 62 tanks have been observed with active IR lights and Norinco bolt-on laser rangefinders. The Type 62 has been exported to many asian and african nations. -Desperado6 |
