Diablo Movie Extractor v1.1
===========================

The Diablo Movie Extractor (Diabmov) is a 32-bit console
application, meaning that it requires Windows 95 or Windows NT
to run. You can run it by either double-clicking its icon from
Explorer, or typing "Diabmov" (without quotes obviously) from a
DOS box. Please see the Revision History near the end of this
document to see what has been added since v1.0.

The Movie Files
---------------

The movies that are extracted by Diabmov are all Smacker
files. Smacker is a audio/video file format created by Rad Game
Tools that was designed specifically for computer games. A compact
Smacker player is included with this version of Diabmov. It's usage
is just: SMACKPLW <filename> If you want the whole Smacker utilities
set, you can get it from http://www.radgametools.com
	On to the movies!

LOGO.SMK - 1,507,772 bytes - This is the opening movie with
the Blizzard Entertainment (and Blizzard North)
             logos.

DIABVIC3.SMK - 12,868,520 bytes - End scene for the Sorceror.

DIABVIC2.SMK - 12,533,872 bytes - End scene for the Warrior.

DIABVIC1.SMK - 13,074,996 bytes - End scene for the Rogue.

FPRST3.SMK - 3,004,304 bytes - Cut scene before you fight
             Lazarus the betraying bastard.

DIABLO1.SMK - 12,497,632 bytes - Introduction movie.

LOOPDEND.SMK - 702,244 bytes - Small movie of hooded figure
and "THE END" that loops at the very end of the
             game.

DIABEND.SMK - 7,777,752 bytes - The hooded figure's speech.

XDIABLO.SMK - 1,486,136 bytes - This movie doesn't appear
anywhere in the game! It's a neat shot of Diablo,
but isn't as high quality as the other movies.

XBUTCHER.SMK - 778,160 bytes - This movies doesn't appear
in the game either! It shows the Butcher chopping
a body in half, and thowing it onto a meat hook on
             the wall (cool!).

How to Extract the Movies
-------------------------

Easy. If you want them all, then just run Diabmov. The
files will be placed in the current directory. If you only want
some (or one) of the files, then type the following:

   DIABMOV [Keyword1] [[Keyword2] [Keyword3] ... [Keyword10]]

where KeywordX is one of the following keywords that identifies
which movie you want:

   LOGO
   DIABVIC3
   DIABVIC2
   DIABVIC1
   FPRST3
   DIABLO1
   LOOPDEND
   DIABEND
   XDIABLO
   XBUTCHER

For example:
   - This will extract only the movies that don't appear in the
   game:
   DIABMOV XDIABLO XBUTCHER

   - This will extract only the introduction movie:
   DIABMOV DIABLO1

Got it? Now go to it!

Revision History
----------------

Version 1.1 - March 26th 1997

  - A much cooler CD-ROM detection routine is in place. It now
handles a system with more than one CD-based drive as you'd
  expect, perfectly. :)

  - SMACKPLW.EXE is now included in the Diabmov archive. If
you really don't like the dialog box that pops after it plays
a movie then go to Rad Game Tools' homepage and download the
whole (2 MB) Smacker Utilities set.

  - I included a batch file called PLAY.BAT that allows you to
play the movie files without having to keep them around on
your hard drive. To use it, use the command PLAY <Keyword>
where Keyword is ONE (and only one) keyword from above. Both
Diabmov.exe and Smackplw.exe must be in the same directory
  to ensure proper execution.

Version 1.0 - February 7th 1997

  - Original release.
