Is That a New Tatoo?
Well, this is a good one. However, I am very cruel to poor Paco in today's story, so if you have a weak stomach, leave now.
Here we go. Now as most of the regulars know, Paco and I are now roommates (not that kind of roommate!) and go so far as to sleep in the same room(not like that!). The problem with this is that we have to suffer through each other's alarms, or rather I have to suffer through both of ours (Paco has this great system. He sets his alarm, it wakes me up and I then wake him up, only he never acctually asked me to do this for him (and then he asks that since I'm up, I give him a ride(Paco's future roomates be warned!))).
One morning, when I was still awake working in a book of mine, Paco's alarm went off. And just like usual, he didn't wake up. I sat there listening to that alarm for what seemed like 5 mins(it was probably 15 seconds, but hey!) and he hadn't got up yet. So I decided to try something. At the time I was entering information into a spiral notebook with a ball point pen. I walked over to Paco, leaned down, and with the pen wrote down the time on his right arm (I very seriously grabbed his arm with one hand and wrote with the other). And of course, Paco slept right through it. Then, because I'm not a total jerk (and I wanted the alarm off) I woke Paco up.
Now I apologize in advance for the next paragraph. I know it's just me venting. If you like, just skip to the one after.
Now here's what gets me. Whenever Paco sets his alarm, he never gets up the first time! He will always, ALWAYS hit the snooze bar! The concept of setting an alarm to wake you up and then just resetting it to later is beyond me! Why not just set it to the later time to begin with and not have to wake up six or seven times? And Paco does this EVERYTIME!!! The first alarm goes off, and as stated earlier, wakes me without waking him, so I go over and kick him! He stares up at me angrily, hits the snooze button and goes back to sleep, just to continue the pattern in 10 mins. Paco does this EVERYTIME!!! (And rooting in that paragragh somewhere is the origin of this very page)
So Paco hits his snooze bar and goes back to sleep, not noticing his brand new body art, and I go back to my book.
5 mins the alarm goes off again and again Paco sleeps right through it. So again I write down what time it is on his arm and wake him up, and he hits the snooze bar and goes right back to sleep.
Now I waited a few moments after Paco closed his eyes and walked back over him. Again grabbing his arm, I wrote down over the previous marks, "Paco has slept through his" and then wrote "alarm" after each of the times.
About 2 mins after I tidied up my written record on Paco's limb, the alarm went off again. Once more, Paco doesn't move and once more I write the time followed by the word "alarm".Once more I wake him up and once more he hits the snooze button. Finnally tired of this game, I ask him why he set his alarm. He tells me that he was going to do something, but has decied to just forget about it. I reply that if he has given up on waking up now, why not just turn his alarm off? So he reach's up and turns that damn machine off.
Finnally, he rolls over to go back to sleep. With a stunning victory on my belt, I ask him, before he goes to sleep, to just look at his arm. He looks down and just gets that look of confusion that those of you who know Paco know sooo well. So I explained eveything that happened.
Paco looked down at his arm one last time ........
then rolled over and went to sleep!
