Thuy Trang, in my opinion, epitomized Vietnamese
beauty. Heck, I'd even go so far as to say she was the most
beautiful Asian woman to have graced our television (and movie)
screens. Thuy portrayed the extremely cute Yellow Ranger,
Trini Kwan on Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
And yes, I admit to having watched that kiddies show, but only while
she was a part of the cast. Needless to say, I was deeply
saddened of her sudden departure (along with co-stars Austin St.
John and Walter Jones). I mean, what other reason
was there to watch the show? As for the follow up Power
Rangers movies . . . geez, like I would actually go see it sans Thuy
Trang? As if!
When I created this fan site, there was very little content elsewhere
on the 'Net to be found on Ms. Trang. The only site that
resembled having a Thuy Trang fan page was the
Holy
Temple of Trini Kwan. But as the title suggested, it was
solely devoted to her MMPR character. Sure, there were some
Power Ranger pages which had a section on Trini, but those usually
featured only a few images with a brief description of Trini Kwan.
The same could be said of Thuy's role as Kali
in The Crow: City of Angels; any mention of Thuy was limited
to the cast list with a reference to her MMPR past. What I
really wanted was background info and some pics outside of her role
as Trini.
Fast foward a couple of years and things have gotten better in terms
of Thuy's presence on the Internet. There are now multiple
Thuy Trang fan sites up and running! She is still mentioned in
newsgroups despite having been out of the Hollywood spotlight since
1996. And if the number of guestbook entries signed and
fan club
messages posted by loyal fans is any indication of her popularity,
then Thuy's character, Trini Kwan, will be fondly remembered as one
of the most adored Power Rangers ever! She certainly was one
of my favourite actresses and a role model as well.
Be sure to check out the entire Thuy Trang Tribute here at the
Fanatics' Tower. The next page
presents biographical information on Thuy with inserted comments
from yours truly. If you don't already know of the courageous
past that brought this Vietnamese-American to the shores of the
United States, you'll be surprised! Also within are pages
devoted to the role of Kali with Thuy's personal feelings on her
work! Want to read what other fans have to say about Thuy?
Check out Tribute Talk where you'll also
get a chance to have your say! And last but not least, I have
a page listing all the links and sources
I used in creating the Thuy Trang Tribute!
