Background story

ACT 1

They are elite soldiers. Blessed with superhuman powers backed by superb military skills. They are earth's last and only line of defense against alien threat. They are Ex-com.

Their story began inside their island base--the Phoenix Project, located somewhere in an undisclosed island in the Pacific Ocean. Shapeshift, the young and the first Excom agent, and Grunt, a technological hi-tech superbeing, were hanging out in the lounge area when the alarm went off. Computer sensors tracked down two cruiser-class alien ships en-route towards NY city.

Shapeshift and Grunt along with the quirky pilot (and somewhat drunk) Desmond immediately intercepted the two spacecraft. In the ensuing dogfight, Desmond, the pilot, managed to shoot down the two cruisers. Unfortunately one of the cruisers also managed to hit them. One cruiser was blown to pieces while the Ex-com ship and the other cruiser crash landed near Buchanan Park in NY.

Desmond was stunned so only Shapeshift and Grunt participated in the slugfest with the surviving aliens, Thorn arrived later as Backup. Even though they were rookies, Shapeshift, Grunt and Thorn managed to subdue the aliens. The people rejoiced as they witnessed the birth of a new super team.

Later, back in the base, after the promotion of Shapeshift to Lieutenant, the whole team composed of Thorn, Grunt and of course Shapeshift were observing the new modifications to their interceptor craft while Desmond, demoted to janitor due to his incompetence, was sweeping the hangar when the alarm went off, this time it was a perimeter breach.

A being of considerable power suddenly appeared within the base's primary defenses. Automatic defenses suddenly went online as they bombarded the alien with explosive missiles and lasers. The alien, unknown to the present team roster, was actually the the hero formerly known as Thor (See Group 2)

During the bombardment, one of the Ex-com operatives managed to subdue the hero formerly known as Thor. Upon realizing that the alien that they stunned was not hostile, Thorn, using his medical skills, revived the dimension-displaced alien.

Later, after introductions were made, another alarm went off. This time the mothership of the two cruisers that Shapeshift and Grunt shot down appeared on their scanners, attacking a naval base also located somewhere in an undisclosed Pacific island. Reaction was almost instantaneous as the Ex-com, along with their newfound ally, the hero formerly known as Thor, scrambled to intercept the invading alien.

The newly-modified interceptor, piloted by Grunt and Thorn, while en-route to intercept, was attacked by several alien cruisers. The modifications paid off as the valiant heroes shot down the alien ships.

Upon landing in an air strip in the naval base, the heroes witnessed a terrible force in action as the mothership blew away a major portion of the base. The heroes, with their combined intellect, deduced that the only way that they could destroy the behemoth was to wait for the right moment when it was about to fire and then hit it with everything that they have. So they did just that, but it wasn't quite powerful enough, due to the fact that the Ex-com's new ally, the hero formerly known as Thor, fumbled twice. At his last try he was able to throw the newly modified interceptor into the firing mechanism of the mothership. A powerful explosion rocked the island as the mothership was blown to bits.

The incident, so as not to induce panic in the general panic, was masked from the prying eyes of the media.

ACT 2

The whole team, Shapeshift, Thorn, Hero formerly known as Thor, Grunt and a new member, Assassin were inside the newly constructed interceptor craft now named Starhawk. They were on their way to N.Y. city for a little Rest and Relaxation. Apparently the Hero Formerly known as Thor knew the meaning of R&R as he brought along three sexy and exotic women along.

The craft landed on top of the Krupp Building on the corner of 7th and Cleveland St. The ship had a cloaking device so as soon as everyone disembarked, the ship cloaked. The hero formerly known as Thor immediately checked into a room with the three sexy girls. Thorn borrowed a jeep parked inside the building, Assassin contemplated on the complexities of the universe, Grunt and Shapeshift went their separate ways and strolled the streets of NY.

After consummating all his passions with the three sexy women, the hero formerly known as Thor noticed the three women changing into aliens, the looks of which resembled that of a reptilian creature. These women tried to kill the hero but was unsuccessful as they were easily overpowered by the Asgardian.

Meanwhile, while strolling along 7th and Arthur St. near the Olson's Five & Dime pub, Grunt noticed that some of the patrons were running out of the doors screaming. Then suddenly the roof of the pub burst open and out came a supervillain…Hard Rock. With sonic powers amplified by his electric guitar, Hard Rock was out of control, shooting every single car that passed near him sending the crowd in a frenzied fit. Then before Grunt could react, Hard Rock rode his streaming sonic wave towards the direction of the Krupp building. Grunt followed.

Simultaneously, Thorn was about to eat his lunch at the El Fernando rooftop Garden located in the corner of Hayes and 7th St. when suddenly, without provocation, Hero Buster attacked him! Hero Buster (an armored individual with seemingly Ghostbusters like apparatus) shot at Thorn, dispersing his lunch into teeny tiny pieces. Thorn was more than happy to rumble with the fiend.

Meanwhile, back at the Krupp building, where Shapeshift, even in his casual attire, was recognized by a passing media van. Inside was April o'neil. But before Shapeshift was about to speak, a streak of sonic blast threw him back a few meters. The hero formerly known as Thor and Assassin were alerted. Shapeshift battled Hard Rock joined shortly by Grunt, who unfortunately left his armor at the base, so was forced to forfeit the battle and went for the Starhawk, Ex-com's interceptor parked on top of the building.

Assassin, knowing that the situation was well under control with Hard Rock, Shapeshift and the hero formerly known as Thor, Assassin decided to teleport near Thorn's location. It was there that he found out that Thorn was in deep trouble against his nemesis, Hero Buster. Hero Buster's weapons were modified to suck heroes into a pocket dimension much like the principle used in trapping ghosts in Ghostbusters.

It was at this time that Grunt finally arrived with his armor suit. And Shapeshift and the hero formerly known as Thor finally defeated Hard Rock. They all agreed to converge at Thorn's location. Thorn at this point was in the brink of being sucked into the trap when Assassin summoned the quicksilver to snatch Thorn from being trapped.

With teamwork, the Ex-com team finally defeated the Hero Buster. They later found out that the Hero Buster was Peter Venkman, gone crazy.

The media had a field day with the heroes that day and the heroes were more than happy to sign autographs. This , the heroes presumed, was probably what it's going to be like every time they get an R&R in the city.

**UP NEXT…THE REAL THOR FROM THIS TIMELINE…AND THE SWORD OF ASGARD?--gamemaster**

ACT 3

PART 1 (Enter Thor!)

It started out as a routine mission. The Ex-com team was investigating an alien sighting report in the middle of the Nevada desert. The team, composed of Thorn, Assassin, the hero formerly known as Thor, Grunt and Shapeshift along with Thorn's contact, a geology and archaeology expert, Dr. Don Blakestone, set out to investigate what appears to be a cavern left by an alien probe ship.

Upon entering the cavern, the team was split up into two as they approached a fork in the cavern. Upon reaching the end of each corridor the team was suddenly attacked by Broods. Moments later, in the middle of the conflict, Dr. Don Blakestone was nowhere to be found, and a few moments still, Thor, along with his trusty Sword of Asgard, came into the scene.

It was a relatively short conflict as the team subdued the aliens. But their problems were just beginning when they found out, through accessing the aliens' computer records, that this site was just a beacon for a larger attack ship en-route to earth. Apparently the aliens have targeted earth for extermination !

PART 2 (To Boldly go…)

All the preparations were made for the team, hero formerly known as Thor, this dimension's Thor, Shapeshift, Grunt and Assassin, to rendezvous with the Ex-com space station DS10. Their mission: intercept the oncoming assault of the Brood.

After brief introductions were made on the Space station, the team went to the control center to view the exact coordinates of the enemy ship. After which, Assassin, Thor and Grunt on the Starhawk (their modified attack cruiser) while the hero formerly known as Thor, who flew by himself, intercepted the attacking ship. Shapeshift was left onboard the DS10 to coordinate the attack.

Upon engaging the huge enemy ship, the Starhawk, piloted by Grunt, was under heavy laser fire from several alien fighter ships. The hero formerly known as Thor, managed to land on the alien giant ship and started punching his way through its hull. It wasn't easy for the hero formerly known as Thor to just punch his way through because of the self-regenerating capability of the giant ship.

Assassin, aboard the Starhawk, teleported inside the giant ship, without any clue as to where the enemy control center was. The Starhawk, barely surviving the assault, shot down two more attacking alien cruisers. The hero formerly known as Thor, after several turns, eventually managed to punch his way inside the enemy ship, also not knowing where the control center was.

It took Assassin and the hero formerly known as Thor a while to find the control center, after of course battling several Broods. Upon reaching their planned destination, Assassin and the hero formerly known as Thor punched in the sequence for the self-destruction code. They also realized that the giant ship was just a trap for the Ex-com operatives, as the ship contained several hundred tons of radioactive cosmic waste capable of destroying everything within a certain radius!

Assassin, whose power was to self-teleport, teleported away from the giant ship and onto the DS10 space station. He couldn't teleport the hero formerly known as Thor because his power doesn't work that way. The Starhawk, damaged, fled away from the giant ship. The hero formerly known as Thor, realizing that the hole he punched through has already "healed" itself thus decided to punch his way out, again. Time was of the essence as the giant ship's countdown was nearing its final countdown sequence.

The DS10 space station, commandeered by Shapeshift, attempted to land the Space Station on earth. The hero formerly known as Thor managed to punch his way out of the giant ship only moments before the ship exploded. The explosion hurled the hero formerly known as Thor, with help from his flight capability, away from the radioactive cosmic storm produced by the giant ship.

The Starhawk, damaged, with Grunt and Thor, was unfortunately caught in the shockwave of the cosmic storm! With all shields down, the Starhawk was defenseless against earth's atmosphere during re-entry. In a selfless act, Thor, with his sword of Asgard, created a shield barrier around the Starhawk, to protect it from the cosmic storm and their re-entry. The heat and radiation was too much for Grunt to handle so he passed out during their re-entry into earth's atmosphere, the last he saw was Thor, on his last leg, was little by little being incinerated by the heat and radiation.

Moments later, on an island somewhere in the Philippines, Grunt woke up, his suit badly torn, the ship completely wrecked, he searched for Thor but all he found was his Sword, punched through what was left of the ship's floor!
